Appears that another US Demo found its way onto Ebay! …and the gloves come off! Goodluck everyone! 🙂

Those displays look amazing! Nice job piecing it all together. Very nice!

It’s respectable that you’ve been preserving your VB exposure to maintain the allure of an incomplete VB experience. I know I don’t have the willpower to do that.

However, if there was one game I would keep on the shelf to keep from fulfilling a complete VB experience VFishing wouldn’t be my top pick, but it’s pretty close. It can be a challenge to hook the fish and work them out of the red water, but it’s not something I can play for very long, especially without any clue what’s going on, or without the ability to save anything thanks to a dead battery.

With that said, enjoy the heck out of Bound High! You’ll know when the time is right to dust off Vfishing for that last hoorah! 🙂

WOW, that sign looks so good! How much do you ask for it? :p

This one’s not for sale! 🙂 If you’d like one or would like to design your own, PM me and I’ll give you the info for the company that made mine.

The price range is anywhere from a few bucks for key chain size versions all the way up to infinity and beyond for large versions. Mine was $120 plus shipping, but the price exponentially grows after that…similar to televisions. One could get a much more reasonable price for a smaller size.

For instance, the quotes I received were:
24″ – $120 USD (mine)
31″ – $280
36″ – $455

The difference is due to the larger, more expensive machines needed to cut the designs and the oversize acrylic sheets that have to be ordered.

VB is the only thing I collect, so this is where I throw my money.

No worries, its done when its done mate. Take a long break, it is christmas after all.

Amen to that! Besides, I’m still happy to play around with the demo version. Enjoy the holidays, Thunderstruck, and thanks for sharing your hard work with all of us.

I can’t wait… Looks like Christmas will come twice this year!

I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m tired of stalking EBay on a daily basis in hopes of finding some rare piece of Virtual Boy history. Instead I decided to cure my EBay frustrations and design my own VB signs (When I say “design,” I mean copy/paste stuff from the interweb to incorporate in very basic designs on MSPaint and then forward off to the sign makers). The first of which is an acrylic 3-D sign with raised VB letters and an inset Nintendo logo with mirrored outlines. Pictures don’t do this one justice due to lighting issues, reflections, angles, my ragged microfiber couch, etc. But I can say that it looks pretty slick in person. The mirrored VB logo is raised about 1/4 inch above the background (~.5cm for everyone outside US). I used my boxed Japanese VB as size reference. Sign is 2 feet wide x 12.5 inches (~61cm x 32cm)

I also have a lighted sign on order that I will update when it arrives, but it is more simplistic and will definitely be lower quality. I don’t have high hopes for that one, but we’ll see.

Oh, and I figured I’d slip in pics of my boxed 1995 E3 media kit which I recently acquired as well. Not sure if it’s complete, but it seems pretty extensive. I don’t think much else would fit in the Killer Instinct box either as it’s pretty full. Note the 1995 Products book and the glossy look VB with black knobs and the words “AC adapter” marked out on the next page. Also included are press releases for the Nintendo Ultra 64 and Earthbound to top it all off. 🙂

This should be my last Virtual Boy, at least for a while.

I agree with Ben, it comes up less often than any other title. I haven’t seen another one since I grabbed mine off yahoo Japan back in July. The real questions are how motivated are you and will the tape issue really bother you?

The box as a whole appears straight, so that’s a plus…but if the tape on bottom is going to keep you up at night or cause a chronic case of buyer’s remorse, then maybe wait for a better copy? Although, that may be a very long time, plus its a gamble whether the next one will be any better.

If I didn’t already have a copy, I’d probably submit a fair offer before committing $800.

What do you think is coolest?

I think the coolest part is that you get to deal with this stuff on a daily basis!

Seriously though, I’m not a diehard trekky, nor do I know anything about the rarity of collections like this, but I think the Shatner autograph would take my vote for coolest.

Looks like a clean copy at a reasonable price…at least until the inevitable last second auction sniping. Happy bidding…

Even though it received a gold rating from VGA, which makes it all the more special, I would think that the cartridge itself would have to be one of the gold ones, in order to sell for that amount, but perhaps I could be proven wrong.

Actually, if it was a gold level gold cartridge, it would probably easily go for over $30,000.00.

I agree. I bet someone out there with too much money and not enough sense would drop that kind of money for a gold level gold cart, but I’d rather buy $30,000 worth of real gold, lol. At least I know I could always liquidate that quickly in case of an emergency….just saying. 🙂

Not VB related, but still noteworthy imo. Nintendo World Championship cart in great condition. There was one earlier this year in worse shape that ended around $7 or 8K in auction style format. Not sure if the market is strong enough to fetch the $13k asking price in this listing though. Likely another example of someone trying to jack the price up just because it’s graded.

That looks very smart indeed. I especially like the depth of the display and the fact the bottom is clearly visible and lighted. You did a great job organizing it all as well. However, I agree with Protoman85, you have to let Insmouse stand tall. 🙂

Also, I’m very curious about the small hint of the case next to it. I see some Wii and Sega(?) stuff. Any chance of posting an overview of everything so I can be even more jealous?

Protoman85:
Practicing for the apocalypse with that gun, or what? That thing looks mean.

Ha! Greatness! Another valiant effort to create the one true accessory that every VBoy is lacking.

Wow! That thing looks right at home! It goes perfectly next to the “Watch for FALLING PRICES” warning sign! Me gusta mucho! Muy mucho!

Good thing the original bidder bugged out because it looks great in your Virtual Boy museum.

The seller did a very poor job of labeling the auction, so I want to make sure that someone who wants it won’t miss out on this possibly very good opportunity..

You don’t know how poor of a job the seller really did. Originally, the he didn’t even mention the word “Demo” in the title. I sent him a message so he could increase exposure, but he still didn’t add the title of the game. And in case you’re wandering there’s also a Warioland booklet inside! Who’d have guessed?

He also said the big bag on bottom has instructions for the game. If you look close, you can see the word Nintendo in the second photo, so I’m not sure if these are first generation “demo” instructions on plain paper or what. Who knows? Maybe that could be another selling point?

From the sounds of things, he bought this back in the day for his kids and didn’t quite realize what he had.

Thanks bigmak and Mr. G.

The diameter is approximately 12cm or 4.75 inches. It came in a 5″x5″ box and has very little wiggle room.

I’m also really excited to get this going…

I’m excited too! How excited? “As happy as a witch in a broom factory!” That’s how excited! 😀

Thanks for another update, Mr. G.

Although… seeing all this talk about Faceball has made me yearn for something more tangible. I have since purchased this foam Faceball to fill the emptiness. It has absolutely nothing to do with Virtual Boy, but at least it gives me some sense of fulfillment since I will likely never see this game first hand.

Enjoy my tribute

“and have a nice day”
