I’m betting L___E___T has Adblock Plus running. Since one of the pieces of the image URL is “/advertising/” it’s probably just not rendering the images. I had the same problem, but disabling it for planetvb.com and refreshing the page works like a charm. 🙂
Fantastic! Thanks for doing this again. I’ve mostly taken to lurking on here, but I was away for a while. When I came back, the first batch was already all claimed… so I resolved to check back here a bit more frequently. 🙂
Heh. This list tends to fluctuate. 🙂

I preordered from Amazon, rather than a local brick-and-mortar place. My experience preordering the Wii from Gamestop was, shall we say, less than stellar, so I’m just eliminating the hassle altogether.
I was surprised, though, to see no release-day delivery shipping option. Most gaming-related preorders on Amazon typically have it. The best I could choose was 1-day shipping.
On the other hand, when I’ve preordered certain things from Amazon in the past, it’s shown up on release day regardless of what shipping option I used (including “super saver”).
Yes, it’s a bit of a gamble if you’re dead-set on getting it on day 1, but for me, it’s outweighed by the peace of mind that you’re going to get one delivered to your doorstep at some point.
As a side note, I only preordered the hardware. I’m betting games will probably be pretty easy to come across, and very few of them have solidrelease dates yet, anyway.
Man, I haven’t seen a picture of a GBA SP in forever. Brings me back…! It was the first system I bought new, totally with my own money (no parental assistance). I was in high school when they came out.
Those were the days…
(OT: Preordered my black 3DS earlier today! I love blue – the GBA SP I bought was blue – but the shade they went for on the 3DS is just horrid.)
Most of the units of this style that I’ve seen on ebay have been in the $500-850 range.
This is what my local Walmart had. Oh, memories… 😎
Signed.
Only once, though… I have two treasures to go back and find.
Coincidentally, memories of being glued to the demo unit at Walmart playing this game as a kid is what sparked my interest in collecting VB things. It’s still my favorite VB game, hands down… Jack Bros. and 3D Tetris being the 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Might’ve gotten a hookup from this guy:
I guess they’re not even trying anymore.
Speaking from a collector’s point of view… it’s not about having “a” box, it’s more about preserving the original boxes these games came in. The VB is certainly getting on in years, and original game boxes in good condition are a lot harder to find than they used to be.

These clear acrylic protective “GBA” cases are the same size as VB cart boxes. I Have my entire collection stored in them. The seller sells them in lots of 10, 25, 50, 100 or 200.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260446606658&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Many thanks for posting this!! As someone who a) tends to have a messy apartment, and b) has a cat, these will be a life-saver.

Well, the seller dropped the buy price… now it’s “just” $1400. :rolleyes
That was sort of my point (and I’m sorry to have derailed the thread so much, but I think it’s important). You wouldn’t walk down the street and call a random stranger’s girlfriend lame to their face because you didn’t like what they were wearing. It’s fine to disagree, just do so respectfully.
Don’t harsh on peoples’ religious beliefs. People can believe in whatever they want. Calling their beliefs lame isn’t going to win you any “cool” points, or make you any friends.

Yeah… Mario’s Tennis, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, and Wario Land all were identical between US/JP versions.DogP
I can speak with some experience about this. I used to have imports of both Mario’s Tennis and Teleroboxer, and the in-game text was completely in English for both, while the manuals were (of course) in Japanese. I’m guessing Nintendo just didn’t bother with localization for the first wave of VB games, since it released in the US and Japan within weeks of each other.
I think I’d pass, since the box looks pretty ragged, but if you’re just after the game, that’s quite a good price.
Alright, have fun speculating what that mysterious 9th game “about airplanes” might be. 😉
For those of you who are also of the “current-gen” persuasion, Sonic Adventure just came out on Xbox Live Arcade. It’s a good chance to take a glimpse at what passed for “new and revolutionary” game design and graphics in 1999… 😉
This is true of pretty much all the first-party VB titles, right? I think only third-party games had different text, etc.
Oh yeah, no question it was an insane amount. I was really surprised to see it shoot so high. Collectors can be an interesting bunch, though… 😉
