I want one someday!
I’m attracted to red game consoles now (I’m getting a Red/Black 3DS after all) 😉
well heres the thing, my Wonderswan (has batteries) is on top of my Gameboy’s carry case, and inside the case, my Gameboy (has batteries) also has extra batteries UNDER the Gameboy…
I’m probably surrounded by Battery Corrosion! 😯
its all in my Handhelds drawer (thats what I call it since it has every handheld I have in it) and everytime I go in the drawer I don’t see anything gooey coming out of my gameboy’s case or around the wonderswan above it but I’m not sure if its contained 😯
I really don’t want to get rid of my Gameboy since 1. I named it after Gunpei, and that would feel weird just getting rid of it 2. it has about 8 or so games in that carry case 3. its Super Mario Land in its cartridge slot 4. its one of my “Fan-Tastic” machines (inventions by Gunpei of course) 😛
and come to think of it my Wonderswan has GunPey in it and I like that game too
I’m a bad Yokoi fan 🙁

I draw really bad don’t I? 🙁
In response to RidingHero: I want to have something different 😛
perhaps I could draw a Virtual Boy but that would be drawn badly right? 😯

@ gunpeiyokoifan: HARRAH you played it. Now you know. But your post kind of makes it out that you were surprised at how awesome this machine is, I mean its not a case of ‘the emperors new clothes’ where we have all been kidding each other and really its a pile of junk and we are just jumping on some kind of retro bandwagon. Of course its awesome and funny and makes us happy, its Nintendo.
Its not that I’m “OH GOSH, Virtual Boy IS good?!?” its just hardly no other videogame or console has ever given such extreme happiness and constant giggling as VB did… it must be magical 😛 (not that other games don’t make me happy but the VB has its own unique fun-ness)
In response to RidingHero: sorry, I don’t know where the measuring tape is at the time 🙁
and In response to VBSAM: I didn’t think it was supposed to fill my vision but I thought it was as big as a GBA screen like DanB said… I think the screenshots made me think so or maybe I set my VB up in a way it looked smaller, somehow
I still think its awesome 😀
(at least its not plagued with lines and scrambling 😯 )
*goes into MSPaint and creates an estimate*

Since I am a Virtual Boy AND Yokoi fan really would like these two books but sadly I don’t speak Japanese… 🙁
also in response to DanB: You can spell it as “Gunpei” or “Gumpei”

it seemed smaller than that… like a Gameboy Micro inches away from my nose… maybe I was doing something wrong 🙁It’s probably all right. It’s impossible for your VB to have a defect that would make the images smaller but look perfect otherwise…
That could only happen if someone replaced the lenses inside the system, which would be unheard of and highly unlikely 😛
Are you wearing thick prescription glasses or something?
Well that would be odd if someone replaced the lenses and called it a supposedly “unused” Virtual Boy, because why would they change the lenses if they don’t even know if the screen is good or bad? 😛
and no, I don’t have any glasses
Aw, well I hope you find cure to your poor Gameboy’s screen 🙁
DanB wrote:
Hey, good for you that you finally played it :thumpup:And it’s true that the screen won’t fill out your entire field of vision (like when you’re on front row in a large cinema).
It’s more like holding a GBA up a couple of inches from your nose, it’s supposed to be like that 🙂

EDIT: oops! double posting! sorry 😛

Congrats on playing your VB.I’m not sure what to say about your screen, be sure to adjust your focus slider and pupil distance knob properly.
When I play my VB, it gives me the perception that I’m looking at a roughly 9″ wide by 6 1/2″ tall screen at about a perceived distance of 1′ 4″ or 1″ 5′ from the screen. Are you sure you played your Virtual Boy Console, and NOT the Reality Boy or Red Dragon Emulator?…
Well lets see, I took Virty out of his box, assembled him, put Mario’s Tennis in and plugged the AC Adapter into the controller with the Adapter Tap, switched it on, stuck my head into the visor, adjusted the long bar (focus) and the hard to move circle dial (IPD) and played as Mario 😛
I could’a sworn it was a red headset on a stand with a controller and not my computer 😀

You love it so much
Er… 😉

You’re just infatuated
…so is that why I wanted to dress up as a Virtual Boy (or would I be a Virtual Girl in my case)?
So is THAT why I’m hesitant to play it? 😛
Makes sense, since when I was about 4-7 years old I used to say that I wanted to marry a computer 😀
a Nester’s Funky Bowling huge display box!
has anyone here ever seen such a thing?
I heard that problem is very common for Original Gameboys,
I know there are many videos on Youtube that are about fixing the Original Gameboy’s screen but I havent watched them much (due to my Gameboy’s screen not having lines already) but no harm in checking them out I think 😉
heres one thats a bit odd but it looks very easy and requires no tools but I’m not sure how safe it is for the Gameboy or if it fixes it for a long time though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXhiHDxz4P8&feature=related

For the love of God, stop calling it “Virty”!!!!!! I don’t care if you’re a girl and 12 years old or whatever. It’s not “cutesy” or funny it’s just annoying, and it belittles and demasculates something all of us on this forum love. Just stop. /end rant
I do not name it Virty because I want to insult the VB in anyway, but because I love games so much that I name all of my consoles/handhelds, after all, I’ve seen even guys on this forum call their VB “VeeBee” and other silly names
I’m not calling all Virtual Boys “Virty”, just mine
I’m sorry I didn’t call it something more masculine like “Virtutron” or “Virtual Bob”, but since I’ve already named it I feel like I can not re-name it, as I named it many months ago and I’m stuck to it 🙁
I don’t want to hate any of you or the Virtual Boy, I intend to only be friendly like most of PVB I believe is 😛

NEW YORK — Among the recalled items this week are McDonald’s drinking glasses with Shrek figures on them containing cadmium in the paint
Ingesting cadmium is even worse than lead. Cadmium is a known carcinogen that can cause brain damage and kidney failure.

Oh geez! Shrek glasses from McDonalds contain Medal Cadmium! and I drank out of mine!Just play your VB, gunpeyyokoifan. Enjoy your stay on the forums, but I just think people would prefer your posts to be more relevant, rational, and have lucid topics.
I understand that you’re a girl, we have no idea of your age (which could be a rational explanation). Being silly/joking around is fine, I just think some of your posts make it hard to tell if it is even a joke. I’m not trying to be a mean guy, just trying to save you the heartbreak of upsetting people, and in turn getting upset yourself. This is mostly an adult community of enthusiasts, and traffic is pretty slow here so people do read almost every new post here.
You have a website dedicated to gunpeyyokoi, have a twitter page dedicated to him, but you’ve yet to relax and enjoy his coolest invention of all time.
Once again,
play your VB. Discuss VB.
this is mostly an adult community? I have seen a few teenage people here and someone once said in a topic that there are a few teens…
Anywho, most of my posts are supposed to be silly because I’m always like that (yes, even before the Shrek cups)
and yes, yes, yes, I will play Virty… tomorrow… I hope 😛
Yet I still feel somewhat sad about being accused that those cups mean I could have lost it 🙁
(silly moment, just so you know): oh well, if I make PVB all against me I’ll still have Virty, and he’ll still be my friend right? 😐
I voted original Gameboy!
its the one that started it all and (the first run) was bundled with Tetris! (in the USA at least 😛 )
I named my original Gameboy “Bleepei” which is the “Bleep!” startup noise + Gunpei, as a tribute to the Gameboy’s inventor! 😀

You’re a psycho. Get a grip of yourself or get out of here.
hey… please don’t get angry
the previous forum I used to go to was against me too (but thats because I constantly talked about Miyamoto (then lots of Yokoi mentions))
I wanted to be a fellow friend on this here site
and I was already nervous that in less than a month someone
was going to be frustrated at me but PVB seemed like it has friendly people…
I’ll try my best to visit Virty, I swear! 😛
I don’t want to get anyone upset, really!
In response to DaVince: hey you never know, the last owner could of despised the VB and the fans of it so he made it bug attracting with dust/dirt or kept it in a dirty area or was just a messy guy and it invited bugs in my home when I got it… even if there was no bugs on the package, there could of been some attic/basement/closet/storage dust/dirt that makes some bugs attracted to its box, and when I go to my VB they could move around off of the area and end up into my room…
when I got my original Gameboy for example, there was a dead spider in the battery compartment
And… I still like PVB and its members, I bet if I play Virty everyone will be in a better mood… at least I hope so 😛
I went to go play it but… well, I’m now afraid of Virtual Boys (well at least mine)
its all the things that happen when I go to play it,
first, I go to the box, I get itchy around it, I thought it was a flea hideout (somehow) but there are no jumpy bugs (or any bugs for that matter, thank goodness) around it (or “OH NO EVERYWHERE!” for that matter)
then, since I don’t have a chair around where I wanted to play it, I needed to borrow one, there was a chair in the house someone told me I could have but it was somewhat dirty, they cleaned it up and its good now but…
when I finally was going into my blue container to get out the VB box (MARIO TENNIS TIME! 😀 ) I decided to sit down for a minute to take a breather (lots o’ stuff on there) I saw a BIG GIANT STRANGE ANT that JUMPS… anyways I got rid of it (well, someone else did technically) but I am getting so much bad luck around my VB (no offense, my scary but friendly red friend) that I am now afraid to go around it due to fear of other bad things stopping me from playing it (all the way down to the possible common screen scramble/line errors that lots of VBs encounter… (poor Virty could be suffering this I don’t even know yet 😯 ) ) anyways I’m afraid of Virty now 🙁
can anyone try and remedy my fear? I really would like to play Mario’s Tennis (and Teleroboxer, Galactic Pinball, Nester’s Funky Bowling, Red Alarm, SD Gundam Dimension Wars, Virtual Bowling/Fishing/Lab, Vertical Force, Panic Bomber, Wario Land, Space Invaders, Insmouse no Yakata, Space Squash, 3D Tetris, V-Tetris, Golf, Virtual League Baseball, Jack Bros., Mario Clash, that other Kemco Baseball game, WaterWorld (yep even WaterWorld), and maybe even Bound High! if I got a FlashBoy but I don’t have any of those games yet 😛 )
EDIT: I just remembered something else I forgot to mention: one day I promised I’d play my VB to someone but didn’t and encountered a spider a little before I fell asleep… SUPER ODD! 😯
DanB wrote:
your not angry at me right?
Not really…
besides, whats worse than being on PVB without having ever played a VB but owning one is that I have a Famicom Disk System shirt but no Famicom (or Disk System) 😛
Do you use the shirt? 😛
somewhat more related: do you think Virty’s sad/enraged? 😐
I think he’s heartbroken for being in a home with no love 🙁
1. oh good
2. not yet
3. with virtual tears? 🙁
I detest of the “hit the kid playing virtual boy” entry 😯
