Haha i watched that episode,

i always watch good game and you know the week before that they did a backwards compatible and it was the virtual boy, they didn’t really have much in-depth detail about it apart from them faking to spew in a bucket lol.

the shows good i really like how they have done a 80’s one with E.T on the Atari 2600 getting i think it was 0 rubber chickens and they gave super Mario bros on the NES a 10, and now they have done a 90’s one (that suited the virtual boy for 1995)

Reminds me of when they showed the sega dreamcast and then on eBay Australia there was like a sudden price rise for the console, i mean gamers in Australia only really have good game for a TV show that’s Australian made, about games.

Good on them getting one they’re awesome virtual boys and thanks for the thread shows really that alot of people could have saw it.

i knew what the guess the game for this week was going to be when they had the virtual boy out to lol 😛

Haha, the angry video game nerd is awesome hey!

it depends really, if you dont like getting blurred vision and getting a headache after 5 minutes then just download the rom of mario clash and download a emulator on this site and play it on ur computer, if u wanna play it on the real thing and dont intend in paying another 20+ dollars for another copy of the game just open it and play it on the real thing,
your choice really, have a look on the site for a review on the game or find one the games alright, but its repetitive and quite a challenge.

I rather the jack bros music out of jack bros or panic bomber,

my favourite vb music would have to be in teleroboxer, beat all the boxers without losing and vs the cat boxer, the music is awesome on that battle with the cat boxer, i play that boss just to listen to the music and the awesome battle with the cat.

Should be fine if u dont move around alot in resting position, i dunno how people actually find it comfortable resting, like i tried it on my bed with the stand on my chest and the eyeshade around my eyes but as i breathe it fogged up the eye peices, i mean that was when i was playing it wen i should of been in bed and was being as quiet as possible, il give it another shot

any techniques though into finding a relaxing position playing it on ya bed or couch?

the eyeshade doesnt seem strong enough either as the virtual boy starts pushing onto my nose and hurts 😛 lol

should be fine though…..

wen i got my virtual boy it said it worked and no glitchy display or anything but when it was on a 2 week trip from america to australia in a box being thrown around it mustnt of done it much good as the right eye got glitchy lol but fixed it… the virtual boy was secure in the box

yeh thats my 5 cents and any tips would be kool im normaly just playing mine on my desk and get a shorter seat out to play it

How come this sold really cheap?

sure its been re sealed, and has a little hole in the corner, but it has its box, manual, game all in great condition, was gona bid on this but i thought nah it will go up wont bother, boy was i wrong, if i saw it like this i woulda payed more ! :S

well it doesnt say it has the cartridge or manual and its condition, only the box, and if its been re sealed then he would know if its in ther or not, i dunno.

have a look. its ended.

Thanks for the posts, i have to agree with you people on the uniqueness of the virtual boy, when i was about 7 or so i got a gameboy, never even heard of the virtual boy until last year, 2008.

I also thought gunpei yokoi was still alive making these metroid games, like the third one but last year i found out what happend to him.

i really do think that the virtual boy would of had alot of thinking put into it, and i guess if i think about it back then, would i rather a virtual boy with a limited amount of set games, a costly price or a small portable gaming device, black and white great games like mario bros, donkey kong, metroid 2.

Either way the virtual boy never got released in Australia so i would of never had the chance of buying one.

Yeah i agree not too many posts this is pretty much my favourite forum i check it everdyay during my time on the computer and it kinda sucks seing no one reply to a comment or something i try n make a few threads if i got a question etc.

i mainly go on the homepage check on the right hand side bar to see new posts, thats about it.

i was thinkin of puttin up a few threads like questions people may know the answer too, like what posters about the virtual boy did nintendo power give out, i can only think of the waterworld one.

i recently had my friends come over they dislike the virtual boy they aint one of those retro people they just go ahh my eyes hurt or this is boring or something but its also hard telling them the controls when theyve probably never seen the controller before or how the game works.

like i would be askin ok for mario tennis a is to hit it normal and b is like a lob move around left right up down and of course they would keep missing, teleroboxer was one of the hard ones to teach but that games real awesome, i dunno why they hate it i think its a awesome little thing and if the virtual boy had as many quality games as the gameboy i would rather the 3d red an black then a small black and white screen.

anyway they r a few theads u might see pop up.

Also once again thanks dogp your guide is awesome on opening the virtual boy up im glad people like you are around =D

nice find, they got a reserve price so im guessing it will be more then 200+ $ because of jack bros and waterworld and for the fact it has a virtual boy included too.

true to that it is a instant very good collection.

wow, nice.

is there any virtual boy stuff you dont own?

also another question i was gonna make another thread for it, was gonna ask who actually bought a virtual boy when they released and what were your thoughts on it.

i would of only been about 3 when they were released, and they did not hit australia so yeah lol.

whats more common a virtual boy with its box or a virtual boy with its hardcase?

how much do the hardcases sell for seperately?

aprox how many were made?

were blockbuster even aloud to sell the hardcases? i think i read somehwere that they were not for sale just youd get it if you rented it then had to return it in its hardcase. btw did you guys ever see them virtual boy trading cards on ebay that sold for 200+ i got a screenshot somewhere i was amazed, the guy also had a virtual bowling cart that sold (this was like a month and a bit ago)

I just double checked and the mario clash that sold for US $84 is not sealed the top part shows the cardboard top part has been opened if it was sealed the plastic would be stopping it.

heres a zoomed up pic the one i sent is pretty small this is the US $84

im pretty sure its not sealed, all the ones that he has that are sealed he states are sealed, sure it could of been a mistake but he has put there that mario clash virtual boy platforms COMPLETE CIB.

maybe the people thought it was sealed because when i read your comment i was like oh it may actually of been sealed

heres a pic of the top showing it has been opened i guess (just put a red circle where its noticable)

Wow the mario clash one sold more then wario land, however both hit a high amount

Wario land factory sealed for $79 US Dollars

Mario clash complete in box not sealed $84 US dollars

Heres a comparison of the mario clash i got a few months ago then comparing it to the one that sold today

Oh and heres a quick screenshot i did and i found the sale my dad did with him for the mario clash it was in october last year a few months i guess.. ( i got it for xmas the game) lol

hmm im wondering, has there been a sudden price rise in some of the VB games… neonihonsei who sells alot of virtual boy games on ebay, boxed with plastic sometimes sealed are selling for quite a bit more..

last year a month or two ago i bought red alarm and mario clash from him with box and all for about i dunno about $26 US aprox about 40 dollars each australian dollars.

now i was interested in bidding on his wario land sealed, its like the only game that i havnt got that i badly want, i mean galactic pinball and space squash are another 2 i would like but i wanna get wario land, its currently US. $61 (AU $87.36) and he had some that sold for half that price a month or two ago, and you know what.

the mario clash game is the exact same price at the moment, US.$61 (AU $87.36) so i dunno is someone badly wanting them or have they gone up in price? il check in 4 hours for how much they sell for in total, the teleroboxer one in box he has is currently US $31.00 (AU $44.39)

i mean sure they are in the box with manual all in very very very good condition but the mario clash i bought from him a month or two ago has pretty much doubled in price, maybe its just the buyer maybe it will change or maybe they have gone up in price more demand.. i dunno

i would also love to know where neonihonsei gets these games if youve seen him on ebay he pretty much keeps a smooth flow of boxed games for sale!

If anyone else has seen some of these games selling for more, please tell me! thanks.

Summary: have vb games gone up in price?

heres a link to mario clash and its current pricing

just one of the many that are going for quite a bit more then they use to.

They shall only get rarer!

Impressive! sadly i got no idea on any other 3d like things other then what youve listed and the virtual boy… dont those vectrex 3d imager things sell for around 500-1000 dollars? what is the vectrex 3d imager like? is it comfortable? hows it work ? what are the games like, isnt it 3d coaster and some others, with vectrex graphics too would be an experience, il also have alook at the video link you have there.

i always wanted a vectrex when i had the choice of a virtual boy to buy or a vectrex i decided id get more out of the virtual boy, probably still gonna get a vectrex (love all these portable-ish consoles with there own screen (like the psone with lcd screen, virtual boy, vectrex etc)

Yeah its your choice if you want to open it up, i mean if you open it up now then you will be able to have access to fixing the glitchy display for when it does become so anoyying, but if it isnt bothering you at how its going now dont worry about it till it becomes a pain.

i knew u had red alarm cuz ur other thread saying u cant play it anymore cuz it glitchy in the right eye.

Thanks for them cheats, had no idea their were cheats for it! thats handy! ty

virtual league baseball is a cheap game i got one virtual leagebaseball sealed and another loose cartridge of it from the same seller for like less then 20 dollars australian i guess its an o.k game its kinda cool listening to every anthem with the music of the vb the games the same over and over you swing you run you swing you run (in my case its always miss then the other team gets to swing and im ending up throwing the ball constantly) ive never won a game its hard to tell when your ment to swing and its hard to see who your controlling to go get the ball when your fielding (your like a tiny pixel moving around)

i dunno its a cheap game good if u want a boxed one or to add to your collection, but like others have said it isnt all that good the music is repetitive as well

so yeah if you want a cheap game get it but if not dont bother really

damn, looks like you will have to try again, i think its hard when you live outside the U.S thats where most of the games are, in the U.S because if you think about it people outside of the U.S have to pay more for postage and so try to pay less on the actual item kinda sucks but its cool when people ask how you got it and what it is.

i had a look at completed listing on nesters funky bowling and a few have sold for less then what you are even paying, well it depends what currency your talking about i guess but yeah id just wait for it to come back, im waiting for a wario land game to pop up again lol, kinda a pain having to wait for one to apear then wait for it to finish then if you win the auction have to wait 2 weeks (for me ) (im in australia) for it to come so yeh, good luck also hows red alarm going? i got that game for christmas its pretty cool dont ya think.. i cant remember how far i got but pass some water levels (you could see the water if you flied up high) and i beat a boss that was like 4 faces flying around in a sequence, i got tired and turned it off then its back 2 tha start again with it lol

also if i could reccomend another game for you i’d say wario land and teleroboxer they are great (i played wario land a tiny bit on a emulator from this site, and now want it on the real thing.

Good luck with the virtual boy glitchy display man, i got it as soon as i got mine like a few days later, after my dad gave him good feedback cuz he said it worked fine, the stand also broke the plastic part and i had to glue that back together, we edited a screwdriver to fit in their somewhere the guide is i beleive dogp was the one who wrote it all up and how to open it.

Then we were planning on re heating it to make it strengthen again but it would just come back so we decided using a chemical that was listed on how to get rid of the plastic to re solder it but it didnt work i think we didnt do it properly, anyway my dad tried some real soft sandpaper that slowly got rid of it and let us re solder it and it actually fixed it, about a few weeks later i was playing teleroboxer and i started getting horizontal lines in the left eye, i thought it was the right eye but i double checked and it was the left one, i stopped playing the VB I only had teleroboxer and mario tennis and as soon as xmas came i got a couple of more games, mario clash, red alarm, virtual league baseball, v tetris, panic bomber, japanese version of mario clash, vertical force and golf and the horizontal lines havnt appeared since so im not sure im gona wait i guess – alota those games are quite cheap well the japanese versions of them are and their aint much japanese in the games.

isnt it a pain seing all these VB games you want but theyre all like 50-100 bucks buy it now also having next to them ultra rare (i mean sure they are rare games but they sell for cheaper, just waiting for someone to buy it without knowing its been sold for less.
