Just had a listen to this and its good, i don’t understand the lyrics, due to me not knowing any German but as far as music goes i enjoyed it, thanks Chris.

Of course, all of this requires models of the cart shell halves, so get to work! 😀

Sir, you command, I’ll supply, well in my own time when i can be arsed. 😀

The cart is my next 3D model project, i’m still working on the controller, which is coming on but still tricky getting smooth results on the back, I think i just gotta approach it a different way, not figured what that way is yet……
I also need to make up a screwdriver to take a cart apart, mmmm i wonder which cart i will do that on, maybe my first issue dragon hopper cart or baseball, tough one that.
Ha ha got you i would never open up my baseball……

Sorry off on a tangent there, once i have a cart shell modelled i will happily send it to any folks who want, i can export to various formats so sharing should be cool.

I’m liking this little project, would be nice to have a complete cart in a shell made without any donar parts, just out of pure interest that it can be done.

How about CNC:ing molds instead, to mold new cart shell halves? 😉

If i had access to mold facilities I would def give it a go, but i’m in metalwork engineering so all i can get done as rabbits are machined parts.
Also making molds is not something i have ever tried.
Once i got the cnc program sorted it should be fine to run off batches of cases, and indeed once i have the 3D model etc done anyone else is welcome to use it to make thier own.

Nice work there fella.
Top job in tracking down a connector, the possibility of making up carts totally is now there.
I have been thinking of cnc machining some cart cases, well I model it up and a work mate does the cnc bit, and to use that connector type would be great. Def something i will be filing away for future projects.
😀

Thanks fellas, nice to know what these are saying, well we get the gist now anyway, looking forward to french translations if someone is up for it
😀

Top work to all involved.
Some nice projects there, its great to see all the effort you guys put in.

LOL, they wrote THAT in the OFFICIAL Nintendo magazine? 😀 I assume the screenshots are all already know, or is there anything new? What do you mean by data leak? Looking forward to the scans!

the data leak occurs while i sleep, usually work related, which i view as a bonus.

Quote from the mag: (scanner don’t work at home)

Because the Virtual Boys screen had to move quickly to give the effect of 3D (each frame displayed in a separate eye, and when shown quickly one after the other they gave the illusion of 3D)it had to have a clear, crisp display so the image didn’t blur when it moved. At the time the cheapest option available to Yokoi was red LED pixels-….

Reading it again it still make little sense to me.

The rest is standard VB fair, screen shots etc, we seen ’em all, got ’em all here for the world to view.
Does applaud the controller and apart from the ‘display’ issue a decent enough article.

I’ll go for US Vertical force.
I will keep fingers crossed for you that it is something rare, that would have to be find of the decade if you get such luck.

Like the new look, good job fella, good that you got it working ok in IE, thats all i have at work and thats where i most check out the site, not that I’m bored at work…….. 😀

So far, JackFrost and I have offered up 90$, anyone else care to join?

I would happily put in $70 too.

And i too would be happy with any of them ROMS mentioned, so long as they play proper, that is the whole point for me, to play them on hardware, not emulated.

Nice to have the glitchy bound high rom but if you can’t play/finish the game on hardware its not fair to release that dump and expect folks to stump up bucks for it.

DogP,
dude thanks for that, so it is possible, with some alterations, not that I’m likely to give it a go but the posibility is there, question answered.
Also ta for the link, will check it out.

Hey Jzagal, I am intrigued as to why you have the Red Alarm box as an avatar but don’t include it in your top 5, if you have not got or played it you really should, IMO best released VB game.
So guess i should list too as I’m posting here:

1. Waterworld, just kidding Red Alarm
2. Warioland
3. Jack Bros (I always think back to Atic Attack (ZX Spectrum) playing this one.
4. Mario Clash (when the buttons don’t annoy me, Jump, oh no i waved at the spiney and now I’m dead)
5. Tennis (or Golf, kind 50/50, I enjoy having a quick 10min match/hole in both)

I would be up for donating.
Nice to see the dev discs getting that treatment, not something i will use but unreleased game ROM’s, yes please.

of course only those who have invested in a flashboy can really get to play this seeing as the emulators wont really show it in its glory(

but then the ROM I have seen & played didn’t play well on the Flashboy, first level was fine but then it started breaking down and after several more became pretty much unplayable, it seemed to be clean when it was run on reality boy, but you don’t get the true game without playing on hardware.
I have no idea if that ROM can be cleaned up, or if indeed there is another one out there that does play on Flashboy, anyone keen to let us know?

This thread/debate will last and keep returning until a ROM is released publically, and if it isn’t well then this will go on forever as I am sure like myself when i first got my VB and checked out the games and found a video of Bound high on youtube, I wanted to play it, pretty much above all other titles and I am gutted it never got released.

Of course if the ROM does get released then the thread will just change to dragon hopper or faceball or some other sort after title, and away we go again.

The Mario print on these looks like a badly drawn picture, I guess its just the Nin of America Mario cos the bean bag has a similar style Mario, i much prefer the JPN version.
Still a nice official unit in good condition, gotta be of interest to collectors.
At the bottom of the page on Krisse link there a link to exact one you have.

Like this, top job fella 😀

no picture but i keep mine in a box that had a bunch of cds & jewel cases in for retail, the game boxes fit snug inside.

@Hedgetrimmer
:
Are you doing the inside and outside of each half, or just the outer shell?

Hey Runnerpack, glad you like the models, for now i am just concentrating on getting the outer to look right, in time maybe I’ll get it all done in & out, but then that would involve taking it apart, I would probably wait until i have a spare of each as i would be gutted to open it all up, measure it and then find it don’t work again putting back together, that might seem a bit paranoid to some I only having 1 set of hardware, any donations much appreciated, working or not!!

A SNES pad, you know that could be my next project once the VB is done, it was probably my most used console, not working at the time gave me loads of time to play, ah the days of 12 hour golf sessions and Mario Kart til 5am.

Thanks Krisse, you are most kind, I do enjoy doing the modelling, although these curves are a bit mind bending to get right, i get very odd looking handles until i get my skteches correct.
I might have a bit of time actually today to have another go at the back, that bit is really testing my brain at the moment, but when it comes out right I am very pleased with the results.
I will keep you posted, its taking time but eventually i will have a full VB modelled.

Hedgetrimmer, what exactly are you trying to make as far as the controller? And for what purpose? But anyway, I appreciate the offer but I don’t need any CAD files, all I need to make a mold is the original part (and I have all the parts already)

I’m not actually trying to manufacture any of the controller, just model it up in 3D to get some good renders and views and cos i draw boring straight engineering stuff all day and wanted to get to grips with compounded curves and surfaces, heres a pic of the top of the controller half so far.
My CAD data could be used to cnc mill a mold, but using the original is gonna be far quicker and easier.
I’m liking what you have done so far, good work fella.
