That’s basically a one-of-a-kind collectible, enjoy it!
I hope it works out 👍
I’m off for the next few days so as I pull stuff out to work on or sell, I’ll try to upload some obscure pics…
Never heard of that one, looks pretty neat. What’s wrong with the controller on it anyway? (I’m watching at work and had to keep the volume low, maybe you mentioned it heh…).
I like those handheld full console systems, my Nomad is just begging for some kind of mod.
I would be interested as well! I finally finished installing the guts of a wireless Retro Bit SNES controller into a VB pad, so it would be cool to use your adapter for the receiver. Sometimes the short VB controller cable adds to my playing discomfort so I’d like to be able to move my hands around more freely.

I believe mellott124 is currently in the planning stages for an EverDrive-alike for the VB.
That’s pretty cool! I cringe whenever I have to open one of my rare or repro boxed games.
Also cool about Mario’s Tennis 2 player mode, last time I checked that was deemed impossible. I’ll have to get busy building a link cable again 👍

As a member of a Virtual Boy community there’s probably a chance that you might like other obscure gaming items as well. I thought it’d be fun if we shared our cool stuff that is obscure, but isn’t VB related 🙂https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1MGnCBOkrQ&lc=z22ss5qrozvjt35yt04t1aokgliwyp33qxklh1b5rrlcrk0h00410
Pretty cool video! I’ve never been lucky enough to be on the cutting edge of some prototype discovery but there’s always hope for the future :p
I’ll poke around my collection and see what weird stuff I have. Probably just “rare” items but nothing too unheard of.
My phone is having trouble with those links but what I saw so far looks great! I’d be interested in some should they become available for purchase.
You may have seen me at that Portland expo, such random dumb luck that I was in town that weekend. Luckily a retro game shop had some advertisements for it and I happened to see them the night before the main selling day at the expo 😄. Did you get the Gundam from that guy who was in the very back corner? I bought some of his NES repros…
First of all, she sounds like an awesome girlfriend! Does she have a sister? Haha…
Anyway, as far as I know the consoles are exactly the same whether retail or kiosk unit in origin. The ‘Not for Resale’ Wario cart sounds typical for a store display though.
If you want the displays fixed permanently, I am based in the USA and do the solder repairs here. TheForce81 is in Europe and could probably help you if you live closer to him.
I missed your post somehow! If you managed to get some printed, I would be curious to try them out and see if they work. There’s something about soldering them I would probably miss too much to stop doing it altogether heh…but, I suppose slapping the clips on over a soldered display would make for a truly impenetrable defense.
Drop me a line via HPLovethrash at gmail!
Thanks for the kind words! And yes, I have been very flighty lately due to my real job and also working on a cross country move…but I’m around again now, so feel free to email me about repairs (or email again for those that I’ve overlooked). HPLovethrash at Gmail com.
That how-to is definitely coming, I was just thinking about it yesterday in fact…

Got one too, thanks for the tip, but dare I say it, with the other forum post being resurrected again, Stand Position, the stand is on backwards 😊
But dude, what if like, the STAND is ok but the SYSTEM was put on backwards?!
On a serious note, I wish I’d seen this sooner! I definitely would have gotten a shirt :(. Do you think they’ll run this again sometime?

Take a good close look at the picture of the Virtual Boy on the cover of your pamphlet, notice the positioning of the unit and the way it’s sort of leaning…
Now have a good look at the picture of the Virtual Boy on my pamphlet, and you’ll Notice that under the legs of the stand are the display props that were used to give the ‘lean’ to the Virtual Boy on the cover of your pamphlet.
Haha, I’m just catching up on this thread now but that’s pretty funny. Nothing says cutting edge and high tech like that!
That’s the one, good find! You should be an admin or something ;).
He’s trying to put me and TheForce81 out of business! If this clip thing works, I’ll have to lure people back to my solder business by throwing in an air freshener with repairs or something 😉
There was definitely mention of a clip/clamp a while ago, maybe on that original VB repair thread. It would be kind of cool if it helps the problem, but do you suppose it’ll make the connection tight enough? If the ribbon cable has completely disconnected, I guess it would probably still need some soldering done.
Thanks for the heads-up! That poster is pretty badass, I think I’m going to order one :).
Is that picture from their website? I assume it doesn’t come nicely framed like that…

A “downer cart”? Would that be Virtual Lab? It’s a bit of a downer.
Just a little VB humor. 😉
Haha, just seeing this now…corny jokes are always appreciated!
I plan to give the other one to my brother in law for Christmas, or hold onto it in anticipation for the VB link cable (if that’s still in the books).
As far as I know the link cable is still cookin’. Congratulations on your solder repair too! If you were able to do that yourself, you could definitely make your own link cable.
Just seeing this now- do you have pictures of the damaged display? I have fixed damaged ones before, as long as they are not completely destroyed.
I also have a VB with a dead power board, but the motherboard is ok. Are you still looking for that?
I just sold a Teleroboxer to somebody in the UK, but it was the US version :). That would’ve been funny to see it again on here.
I don’t play that one much, it’s just not my type of game. But the full use of the controller is pretty cool. Nice graphics too.
Also, that JP version has much nicer box art IMO…
