So I actually have one of these boxes (no it’s not my auction), I went back and looked at mine and it’s the same as this one with that box layout 2011 note. I bought mine back in 2012 (for $14 mind you) as a cool display piece. I remembered a discussion on this before and was able to find it

The Noteworthy Auction Thread™

bigmak confirmed someone else made these before uncle tusk got involved. So this may be semi-legit, but that $790 price is pure fantasy. Also of course this couldn’t be a “store” display as these were never sold at retail.

I bought this lot.

Cool! So, are you planning to solder-fix each of them?

Yes, that’s the plan. I actually received them Friday already and have the first two sets taken out. I had a bunch from before this lot even so have quite a few to do.

The shipping to my USA address is $36.61.

This would definitely be a great purchase for a USA resident who is confident in his soldering skills. You could easily resell each of these units for at least $40.00 each after you solder-fix them, especially if you advertise that they are solder-fixed units that should have no display problems ever afterwards. This would definitely be a great service to all of us VB fans who aren’t so confident in our soldering skills.

He musta modified the shipping; it now says “$39”, but it’s sold.

My solder skills are excellent, been building stuff for years. Maybe some more will surface.

🙂

I bought this lot. I noticed it on eBay last night and noticed his description said ground shipping, but it was listed as USPS express (1 day). I sent him a note and he fixed it so I picked it up. If he wouldn’t have I may have driven there myself – he’s only a couple hours from me. As it was shipping was a little under $25 to my address.

Or do you mean you want to collect a fully sealed collection? I understand the appeal, but at the same time you can’t play the games, which is half the fun!

Collection for the VB is easy to do and excellent, you’ve just gotta be willing to spend a few dollars. Everything except Virtual Bowling and Lab seem to be available regularly.

Agreed – if you want to collect sealed you really need to get two copies of everything. Of course now with the flashboy you could get around that if you don’t mind loading the games as you want to play them.

I’ve already ordered a couple boards from retrousb and I’m planning to make brand-new cables that could be swapped in by the end-user, ideally such that the board can fit inside the controller. If the retrousb ones don’t work, I’ll check those out!

At least, if anyone’s interested. :p

I’m interested to see how it turns out. I remember retrousb used to have a different product listing specifically for the Virtual Boy but that has long since disappeared, so I wasn’t sure the NES / SNES one was the same.

You can get one from these guys also. I bought one, but haven’t put it together yet.

Neat to see someone else doing those circuits aside from retrousb. How big is the board? Can it fit in the controller okay?

It’s not very big, just over 1″ long by .75″ wide. I’d never considered putting it in the controller, but I do think it would fit.

Adding my thanks and donation to the cause – really great to see this released and so many people supporting it.

Wow, thanks for the images. Actually you used to be able to order these already made, bigmak found them originally, but it looks like they are out of business now.

It’s not that it didn’t sell it was ended early by the seller because “the item is no longer available” – in other words he probably got an offer on the side and sold it early.

I’m interested and I’ve got “bundle A” (boxed / complete Jack Bros and loose 3-d Tetris). Let me know if you are still interested / the deal with KR155E doesn’t work out.
