Keep up the good work! Looking forward to watching this progress. 🙂

If you’re willing to expand this list to “Games that reference VB in some way”, then you should add Mutant Mudds — there’s a really great red and black hidden level. If you play it on a 3DS it’s even in 3D! 😀

Thanks so much for your work on this! I’ve been wanting to play Insmouse no Yakata for a long time, but was hoping a solid English patch would come along.

Happy New Stick Day! And congrats!

I love arcade sticks, but have had to hold off on ordering Benj’s ones, sadly. I’m not made of as much money as I’d like to be! XD

Tempted to try and build my own some day, but it’ll be a while…

I’m glad to see this! At least they’ve acknowledge its existence! 😀

Oh wow! I’m quite late to the thread, but this is a fantastic find! Thanks so much for sharing, Cpt. F.! And thanks to your associate as well! We’re in their debt!

Here’s hoping the ROM looks good. It’s an amazing work of preservation going on here!

Oh wow! I’m so sorry for the loss of the original kiosk, but so glad that you were able to complete your collection with yours! That’s really amazing!

Beautiful collection, to boot!

US Jack Brothers in box currently at $425 via a huge game history auction: https://connect.invaluable.com/bodnar/auction-lot/Nintendo-virtual-boy-Jack-Bros-video-game-in-orig_D6346E3B30/

Good luck if anyone’s interested!

Latest parts just came in. Builds will start again tonight.

Awesome! I need to get my hands on one of these. 😀

Holy Cow! Great work M.K.! You’re the hero we need! 😀 Thanks for doing all this!

Neat idea! Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Indeed! Welcome! Never too late to start in on VB. 😀

That base was made on some sort of milling machine. The grooves in it look like what comes out of ours at work.

Someone must have been trying to mount that somewhere pretty permanently. Congrats on the weird machine. 🙂

The Dreamcast may be my all time fave console, after the VB, of course! 😉 And Rez was one of the best DC games. So damn cool.

In Japan, they released all kinds of peripherals we never saw in the US, but I had a friend in JP who sent me a ton of them. One was for Rez. It a small box – maybe half the size of a cigarette pack – that you plugged into the DC, and placed in your pocket. All it did was vibrate when there was an impact in the game. Totally pointless, but so cool. I may still have that somewhere – not sure.

Maybe not *totally* pointless: NSFW Old article is old.

I’m with Lester on this one. It’d be great to see a new commercial game, but it’d be better to make better homebrew games.

I always hold out hope that there are more new games ou tthere, but I’m not holding my breath. 😉

I’m curious: Did you make your own new PCB? If so, that’s fantastic! Can you share any information about the board?

Confession – the current PCB I use is designed by a fellow out in California named Kevin Mellott. For the record, I did tell him about this project, and he is alright with me using his board. I am in the process of designing my own board, as soon as I determine a Flash chip in 4Mbit, 8Mbit, and 16Mbit sizes that includes a #RESET line and operates on 5V. It’s harder than you’d think.

The board is viewable in the first post of the NintendoAge thread, fully populated except for the nvRAM and MaskROM.

Super cool! I’m glad to see people making their own boards for things like this. I remember hearing before about how hard it is to get the right Flash chips; I seem to recall Mindstorm or someone getting lots of really old Intel-made chips or something… The memory is fuzzy at this point, haha.

I’ve got one of the original productions of these, otherwise I’d be in for one of the new ones. My wallet, however, isn’t, heh.

This is looking really great Nin! Keep up the good work!

Awesome! It always worries me that it’s a challenge to compile things for older OS’, so this is a great piece of info to have. Thanks!

Great! Thank you so much for the update!
