I was browsing Twitter when all of the sudden GDRI posted this…Raizing, best known for Battle Garegga acutally had plans to make another Virtual Boy title. The document dates back from July 1st, 1995. Why do i say another? ‘Cause they were the ones who ported Panic Bomber to the VB 😉

So for those who are new to this thread, let me sum up what has been found so far:
– A Design Document of a previously unknown & unreleased surfaces by somebody on Twitter.
– A video existed on Nico Nico back in 2013 and was posted by the very same person who posted said document.
– A sample/demo .ROM also exists and it’s most likely in the hands of said person, who turns out that she was most likely involved with the title back in 1995.

In October of 1995, on Friday the 13th, I’Max released Mansion of Insmouse to the public in Japan, bringing the horror genre to our beloved Virtual Boy. Now, 22 years later, once again in October on Friday the 13th, I am pleased to release to the whole world a new version of this red and black game of terror, Mansion of Insmouse: All Hallows’ Eve. Thanks to the help of InsmEdit version 1.2 created by PVB User: HorvatM, I’ve created 45 brand new levels, each one having the appearance of something that one might expect to see on Halloween (All Hallows’ Eve) and having a relevant 4-letter name as its password. With the latest version of InsmEdit, I had the full freedom to place as many monsters as I saw fit in each level wherever I desired, each with as much strength as I desired, in addition to making each level’s layout look however I wanted and with as much time to complete it as I deemed reasonable. I’d also like to thank thunderstruck for making the special English title on the title screen, which is appropriate for this latest ROM-hack. This night of fright, enter the Mansion of Innsmouth (officially translated into English as “Insmouse” for some reason we’ll probably never know) once again and experience the new horrors that await you! Will you be able to make it out alive?
Testing it right now on my Wii Mednafen emulator! Thanks for the release Benjamín and sorry for the very late reply 😀

I also just noticed, there’s a little stack of VB games behind the guy talking about the VB conversion.Everyone is in the same room, so that may just be the producer of the videos, but I thought it was a coincidence :p
Late reply but John Linneman does collect for the Virtual Boy. In fact, if he could come across with one of the Video Boy TV System units, he’ll make a DF Retro episode about the Virtual Boy 🙂
I would love to see Donkey Kong Country 2 ported to the VB. I mean, we got Hyper Fighting so why not this, especially with the tools that we now have? 😀
And nothing yet about a VidPro Card for Bound High! 🙁
Looking foward to see anything more being posted about this 🙂

Hi all,I just wanted to say “hi” as I’ve just signed up here.
It’s an exciting day in the household as a Virtual Boy that we ordered from Japan has just arrived! It’s stubbornly refusing to turn on with the battery pack so I have a step down transformer on order. Fingers-crossed that it will behave tomorrow!
It looks like a great resource and community here. Though I am late to the party I’m really looking forward to collecting some of the games and chatting with like-minded folk.
Welcome to the Virtual Boy family buddy 😀

Hey everyone! Not dead, just wounded 😛 Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while now, house stuff and living situation has taken a turn for the worse :/ as well as some issues in the family. So it’s been a slow start to getting the repro’s off the ground. I Still fully intend on doing so, just don’t have a ETA at the moment.
Oh OK. Take your time to resolve your personal stuff before you keep moving with the Hyper Fighting repros 😉 I’m glad the game is being made more widely available 🙂

I have briefly talked to her this morning. The video she posted was taken down by request of “stakeholders of the developer” and it’s difficult to share information about the game since Eighting does still exist and might go after her. She’s a former Hudson employee and has a development ROM in possession. It’s unclear whether it’s a dump or an actual cartridge, but I strongly assume it’s the latter. Unfortunately, she currently does not have a Virtual Boy, so she can’t shoot a new video.
I did not get another reply after asking if there was a possibility to share the ROM… Will wait for another day, but might have to play the “obscene amounts of money” card. 😉
Damn ._.’ Then it was at the request of 8ing that the video was taken down? Oh well…

What to potential awesome discovery! Maybe our resident Japanese translator Ben Stevens can take a crack at this translation and perhaps communicating with this person if they don’t speak English? 😁I myself don’t speak Japanese, so someone who does would have to try to communicate with this person, if the person can be reached. I took my best crack at translating the info, but it gave me more difficulty than Japanese texts that I’m used to looking at, so it would be good if someone fluent in Japanese could check my results:

Visionary Virtual Boy Development Software: Invincible Iron Man Gagaga-In
From the small viewing window of an actual machine and using a smartphone, I recorded the sample ROM of the 80’s robot fighting game “Invincible Iron Man Gagaga-In,” which Hudson and the planning and development group Eighting were developing, which was to be released after about a year had passed from the launch of the Virtual Boy. It’s very responsive with well-developed techniques and is a lot of fun. It is just a sample that has now been shelved and that saw its end during the lifespan of development for the Virtual Boy, so the music is from Panic Bomberman. I think that it could have become popular software among Virtual Boy titles if it had been released.
The more i read about this game makes me even more sad that it was never fully finished. Sounds like it could’ve been really fun and a worthy rival to Teleroboxer 🙁

Very cool discovery! I did a bit of research on the title and it seems the Japanese community has known about this game for some years and even got to see a 58-second video of it in action in 2013, uploaded by the same person who just tweeted the document photo! Unfortunately, the video was quickly deleted on the same day. The description is still there, though, and it is juicy! Apparently, there was a sample ROM produced and the uploader has it in her possession. I am trying to get in touch.Link: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21014915

Phantom virtual boy development software Steel invincible Gaga Gain
Around the year after the release of the virtual boy sale was taken at the Hudson project development aid. The 80’s robot fighting game “Steel invincible Gaga Gain” sample ROM was taken with a smartphone from the small peep window of the real machine It was a very good response It is also easy to put out and fun It is a sample that has become a storage entrance since the lifetime of the virtual boy has also been exhausted during development I think that the song is a Bunberman bakuman song If it is on sale it would be a popular software in the virtual boyBonus – some tweets about the video: https://twitter.com/hashtag/sm21014915
So there is a demo .ROM of it then? That’s interesting!

Hi guys,I’ve been collecting for the virtualboy recently, and i’m in the Japanese game music industry so I was asking a composer i regularly work with about working with the virtualboy.
Just a random inconsequential factoid that die hard VB fans might be interested in:
The company ‘Eighting’ had a game in production / preproduction for the VirtualBoy.
I asked if he had a prototype cartridge of the game, but he said the game didn’t make it far into production, so all he had was the hardware to explore and test the sound capabilities of the system which he did. But right as he was ready to start composing music, the game was cancelled.
Here’s your answer…It’s called Invincible Iron Man Gagaga-In 😉

That is a very interesting find! Looks like we can finally attach a title to the game that was briefly discussed here:http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=35180#forumpost35180

Perhaps with the tools we have now, maybe we could make this a reality? Just sayin’
Really well done! I like the look of it
