I’m with RunnerPack, especially if there was more than one LED so that they could flash in a ‘flowing’ sequence.
Batteries on these don’t last long, so that would make sense too.
I don’t think there’s any kind of connecting data hidden away that would interest a VB historian as such, as it is just an LED on a badge. A remote control would need a much bigger PCB for example.
Thanks for the snaps – I like them, if only you could swap the KS for letters VB 🙂
In seriousness, you could probably get some Virtual branding applied somewhere somehow. There are similar headphones that allow the plates to be switched out etc.
In tracks record terms, the whole thing is a fad. I don’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings – but 3D and VR have come and gone numerous times and every time people get excited and the pickup is never sustained, it’s a novelty by nature.
Like I said not to hurt anyone’s feelings, I really liek 3D and VR type applications and I think as long as they’re practical, we should believe in them. Just remember the odds aren’t good 🙂
Also on Kinect – it was billed as this amazing thing and again, it got great pickup and MS did a really good job in converting people to that, but it was never sustainable past that initial wow phase, so understandably when people are forced to buy Kinect 2 for extra, that transientce is still fresh enough in their memory for it to sting just a little bit.
To be honest with a little boy on the way I’m also downsizing some of my collection, and if somebody offered me that I’d really have to think about it. Not that I have it listed or anything, just saying.
Add into the mix that I am a serious Street Fighter collector, I have some sealed Japanese soundtrack collector boxes that are very, very rare, as well as arcade hardware, sales brochures and all sorts of other things. So I love my copy for both SF factor and of course VB factor.
Street Fighter 2 is my favourite game of all time, I play it often.
Yeah, no way are these going to go back on sale for $80, sorry but I’d be surprised if they weren’t double that originally, a lot of work went into squeezing the game onto a VB PCB.
In terms of playing the game, there’s always the Flashboy demo, which gives a great playable impression of the game. And the rest is of course, SF2 as you’d expect it with some awesome enhancements.
I think with the attention this now has, Capcom would have to follow it up if a re-run ever went public, especially with SFV now in production they have to actively protect their IP.
I would just add that legally, Capcom have to fight this.
Nintendo may not care about Bound High so much (and are generally lenient with fan efforts) but Capcom are a different group, and are still making Street Fighter games and selling them now.
Legally speaking they have to be protective of it, otherwise copyright law dictates they don’t own the copyright. Bonkers, but the law.
But yeah, the VB is a very niche product these days – but while the forum may seem quiet, the amount of work, research and discussion on other parts of the site is very large.
Perhaps most topics have already been talked about in such detail already.
