Its always great to see another new face in VB devving. 😀
Unfortunately we all seem to be on hiatus at the moment. 🙁

Last I heard, DogP was working on a SMB-style Mario game, I was working on a port of the NES Zelda, and KR155E may have been working on updating Blox.

…But we haven’t touched any of it in ages. I’m surprised KR155E even upgraded this site…

…If anything, I would like to have stereoscopic versions of the old NES gfx for Super Mario Bros/Lost Levels, Zelda, Metroid and possibly Kid Icarus. Right now I’m using basic parallax effects, but that only goes so far…

We usually hang out in IRC EFNet #virtualboy, although even that has gone quiet of late… 😐

I’m afraid the VB scene is slowly dying… 🙁

PVB3 is good and everything, but…

* For starters, the center tag is no longer supported
* Neither is the url tag apparently
* Probably a pile of tags I can’t be bothered trying
(Maybe you should run some DB queries and convert the old tags if you’re using something new)
* And finally, the menu headings (NEWS, SECTIONS, etc) are a bit hard to see on that background.

…Also, isn’t it about time you started doing (C)2000-2006 in the footer? Pretty soon you won’t be 640×480 friendly. 😛

Yeah, it’s things like that 3-letter abbreviation you just used that made me leave in the 1st place >:(

What? Oh my goodness? 😉

Unfortunately, the VB scene seems to have died over the past few years. Even if my site was up it wouldn’t have anything new on it. 🙁

It went down after my previous webhost stopped free hosting, and since I wanted to give it a PHP/SQL overhaul before uploading it to the new one, I left it down.
…Unfortunately I didn’t have the time I had hoped to work on it. I have 2 weeks of holidays starting next week, so hopefully I’ll be able to work on it a bit more.

OMG its RunnerPack!!! 😯 Long time no see!!! 😉

So, how are the glasses working out for you? I’d love to be able to view games in 3D, but the best I have are crappy LCD glasses that stopped working yeas ago… 🙁

I thought Super Mario World (1) was the better platformer…

*waits for flames, rotten fruit, knives, and other throwing implements to be aimed at him* 😛

…Does Tetris + Dr. Mario count as a good SNES game? 😉

Unless you have some rare games, VB ROMs can already be found on the Internet.

Somehow they seem unofficial.
I mean, if they weren’t, wouldn’t they be red? 😛

I’d consider buying them, but I’m not the kind of person who spends $75US on clothing, let alone sunglasses. 😉

Pretty good considering there was only half that amount actually released. 😉

At the moment no emulators currently exist with sound support.

I personally am also interested in creating a VB equivalent of NSF/GBS/SPC/whatever, but that would mean access to the source code of something actually able to produce sound…

I’m guessing hes doing whats already been said: heating the glue on the cable to reaffix it to the board.

Yes, Nintendo. 😉

I want a 48 pack… 🙁

If you’d have read the posts in order, you’d see that I was complaining about the fact that you’re bumping threads that are over 1 year old.

This place is slow, but not that slow…

…And at the rate you’re reviving dead threads, its no wonder… >:(

This is even worse than your last bump… 😐

Wow, 1 year bump.

Must be some kind of record… 😐

Try reading some threads before blindly posting next time. 😐

Pretty much.

Dumping means copying the data from a game or any other kind of cartridge to PC.
This usually means reading the ROM data from cartridges, and disc data from CD/DVDs.

Uh…
Project:VB is DogP’s site.

And as I mentioned before, the only way to get a VB dumper is to either make one, or get someone to make it for you.

The ROM itself is a pretty standard 5V 16 data line ROM. The problem is making a connection to it.

…And if you mean Galactic Pinball, yes its been out for ages.

As of yet noone has made a commercially available VB dumper.
Your best bet to dump any VB game is to get a hold of an EPROM programmer (such as those sold by Willem), and manually wire it up.
Since the VB cart has such a unique socket, the only way to do this is to unfortunately either pull apart a VB for the cart socket, or connect to the cart using either direct access to the ROM, or the points at which the cart connector meets the cart PCB (probably the best option).

This will probably mean soldering, so I wouldn’t advise it if you want to keep the cart for collectors value.
…But then again, it’ll be inside the cart where noone can see it. 😉

You’ll need some basic info (at least) about soldering and electronics in general, as well as a small Nintendo bit to be able to open the cart.
