Ha! That’s neat. I would like to see something behind it that corrals the light into a rectangle with rounded edges. So the effect is more like the kiosk display light up sign/Nintendo logo.
i have not seen an aftermarket stand. most users will just prop it up on a box or something. my suggestion would be to try and grab a cheap (broken) vb off ebay that has the parts you need (stand, controller, battery pack).
I find the AVGN character extremely entertaining. I don’t allow myself to get emotionally involved in other people’s opinions. I keep that mind set when I watch his vids. I might not always agree with what he says but I always enjoy the videos.
I don’t see the harm in posting this. The secrecy behind this game is going to upset retro historians in 30 years. I have it from a good source that right around 75 of these were produced. No more will be made by its original team.
It never occurred to me back then that some day I might be discussing their shelving system all these years later. I wish I had taken some photos of the isles and the displays. I remember they had this glass case that was about half the length of an isle that had all of the consoles and handhelds inside of it. The back side had Sega games across from Nintendo. The far end of the isle had the Turbo Express. It was here that I first tried a VB. I like to think it was Mario Tennis that they had running, but to be honest I can’t recall. I remember thinking it was cool but I didn’t feel it was worth the $150ish asking price. Then when they dumped the system a few months later they had bins full of games for next to nothing, same with Block Buster. I wish I had grabbed them by the dozen. LOL. Hindsight — right?
$1,000 is the price the community of your peers has set for this game. They are willing to bid that much then I suspect it will continue to sell for around that price. The less they go up for sale the more that price should rise, until perhaps it reaches a point that a listing no longer gets any publicly. Now that we are aware of what others are willing to pay, I don’t think you’ll find one publicly available for much less.
The same artifact, in the exact same spot, no matter the ROM flashed, each and every time you use the FB? If you used it, saw the problem, then flashed a different ROM, and tried again, it’s still there? I’m not an expert, but it doesn’t make sense to me that the FB would cause this. Different games use brighter reds, you might only notice it on the ROM you have flashed. I experienced similiar things before I got my cables soldered.
Thanks for sharing. I don’t recall reading before that Mario’s Tennis was going to be called Mario’s Dream Tennis. It still amazes me how much VB info is still out there.
I would frame it. If you want to see both sides, frame it with two of those plexi frames. The ones with the 4 plastic things you slide to form the edges of the frame. Just don’t use the cardboard backer, use the second piece of plexi.
