chris, i don’t see all of these on the site in the manual tabs. you should get them added before we all forget again. =P
there are projects which have restored online functionality to consoles that supported something at one time or another. i also recall the hdmi nes project board that was going to have a high score leader board function. other than that, i can’t recall a retro console that was given online functionality as a brand new feature.
Yes. A FB+ is a must! Translations, hacks, and homebrew bring so much more than the small library of games.

I have to agree that the VB community is actually one of the nicest gaming communities on the planet, and by nicest, I mean it has the nicest people.
i enjoy my vb. i don’t love it as much as some people here. i could have easily joined up and kept my involvement to discussing hacks and homebrew. that would have satisfied me at most communities. the reason why i post and try to get involved in discussions here is because this community goes beyond just being nice. it has a positive attitude towards every topic of discussion. it gets old when half the posts in a thread only point out negative aspects. eventually you will start to question why you made the post in the 1st place. thankfully, i’ve never felt that here.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html#if_auction
according to their site you can list up to 50 things (right now) for free. the final value fee will be 10%.
https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees
paypal’s fees will be 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction within the US. international will be 3.9% transaction fee plus a fixed fee based on currency received.
if it sells for what you probably paid (assuming you bought it off richard) you’ll be out a few dollars. i haven’t been a seller for a few years, and i know they tried a fix calculator shipping system for a while (based on weight). if you add in a “handling fee” (say for materials and make that clear in the auction description) you can make a few dollars back on shipping.
as far as the legality, it is 100% legal to sell a flashboy on eBay. the flashboy does not contain anything that circumvents any anti-piracy measures. it doesn’t have part of a rom as a bootstrap nor is it considered a “mod-chip”. to be fair, the people pulling auctions will have no idea what they are looking at. so you would be wise to not say certain keywords in your title or description (play ROMs, piracy, etc). i’ve seen a few FB’s sell on eBay and those sellers never had a problem.
you may also consider gamegravel.com. they have a specific VB category: http://www.gamegavel.com/listview.cgi?cat_id=34800 i am not familiar with their policy, so read any FAQ they have before listing.
good luck!

I was actually wondering if you knew of anyone 🙂
OK, cool! =)
It’s a neat find. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t have access to a listing of who purchased it. Perhaps most members already own it. I’ve no idea and I don’t want to debate my opinion for who I feel are long upstanding members. What I will add is that there were people here contributing to the site, and involved with conversations and the community long before HF was a thing. So who I would offer a copy to doesn’t really matter. I would just hope that they end up in appreciative hands.
Sorry if that came off as defensive Eric.

If any of those copies of Hyper Fighting end up for sale by the rightful owners after all is said and done, I’d love to pick one up.(Woohoo, my 1st PlanetVB post… long-time VB collector, finally figured I should join up.)
if a handful of carts were recovered and made into CIB releases, i would personally like to see them go to long-standing planet VB members who were unable to purchase one the 1st time around. nothing personal, honestly. its just hard to validate every 1 post member asking for a copy of HF. i just don’t want to see more end up for sale at ridiculous prices.
the reproduction thing started out as a trade deal. donor carts for a reproduction. it always seemed like a way to hook up the community. a way to honor our beloved vb. a way to keep us gaming. nothing against the professionalism of the boxed reproductions, my HF CIB is really nice and everything, but i feel like it detracts from the gaming element and focuses more on collecting. if everyone could have traded donors for a reproduction, perhaps this never would have happened.
also, i’d be remiss not to point out that this game was never intended for the public. ben’s post about it is worth reading if you have not already. really, he should be the only one playing anything more than a demo.
anyways, just my opinions here. don’t take them personally.
the vb works by projecting the LEDs across spinning mirrors. the noise you are hearing could be those spinning mirrors. you didn’t say if you had a game in the slot or not, you won’t hear or see anything unless a game is inserted.
sorry i didn’t click your link, so i’ve no idea if you showed a game being inserted or something?
this is nothing amazing, but i thought it was cool. a wario land game with a blockbuster sticker still on it.
one thing i love about the vb is that after all these years we are still uncovering new stuff.
i’ve been in a writing mood lately. pouring all kinds of emotions, ideas, and research into a story. if you want to make a little game, let me know chris. i’d love to write the text (story) for a new vb homebrew.
i really like this graphix style and i think the vb needs another great platformer. although (wario land speaking) perhaps a story isn’t really needed, let the game play (design/stages/goals) be the story.
these are cool. i’ve always loved pixel art, and how it has become a thing to call it art. back in the day we just called all those pixels, “graphics” –lol.
having some of the hacked roms on single carts could be cool. there is always the flashboy but there is something to be said for standalone carts.
He has probably been asked about or heard comparisions to the VB more than we could imagine. At this point it sounds like he is just sick of explaining that the Nintendo Virtual Boy wasn’t and isn’t “VR”.
The Rift is still incredibly interesting, as are all VR headsets. I could care less what his personal views or PR team has to say. It comes down to how I feel about the experience. What I don’t like is the $1,500+ price estimation being tossed around.
This reads like a big deal with lots of enthusiasm behind it, but then I visit the homepage and see one line in a change log that lists stereoscopic images as an experimental feature. Perhaps this new feature needs a bit more publication? I remember what DS Game Maker and PALib did for the DS homebrew scene. Both weren’t perfect but they aided hobbyists. This program seems like a tool that will help more people make a VB game or app. I hope more sites pick up on the news.
These posts always make me wish the relaunch and 2nd generation software had happened. Great to see more info, just wish we had more games to play.
What was said was that a package went missing, then posts following that assumed the package was targeted for its contents. Without being involved I would need to ask if it perhaps went to the wrong address (a postal delivery issue/a neighbor intercepted it)? Has anyone contacted the seller for more details? Perhaps if they knew the circumstances and the proof they would be kind enough to return the carts to Eric or Richard?
Have you tried a pair of headphones or just the built-in speakers? You may also consider sending out your song so others can test on their hardware.
