the difference is that the push for VR headsets and games specifically designed for VR hasn’t been as popular as it is right now. if it is going to happen, this seems like this would be the gaming generation to make it possible.

i play at a table that is a bit lower than a desk. like the kitchen table. i point the VB down towards the table and sit over it. using it this way has never caused me any pain. i’m not slouching or trying to keep my shoulders in a weird position just to view the screen. i hold the controller out in front of the VB so that i’m not cramping myself trying to tuck it all between my body and the VB.

please give this a read, if you haven’t already: http://www.projectvb.com/dumper.html

Bigmak, how does one go about getting on the list for a copy of fan-made releases like fishing? I know I’m not a “seasoned veteran” on this forum, but I’d love to be able to get in touch with the right people.

all of the past reproductions and releases (translations, homebrew, etc) showed up on uncle tusk’s site. i am assuming it will be the same for future releases: http://www.uncletusk.com/27-virtual-boy

hyper fighting, of course, being the only one that did not because it was “released” by a different “team” of people and done so privately.

kinda wishing we had that pesky “like” button. well said!

My opinion is that it was sold as “goods”, purchased by a buyer, and it is now their property. If that person wants to sell it and make a profit, then it is their right.

I just wish the eBay auction expressed more of what the game actually is. It’s so vague that and the listing looks like it was a retail game that no one knows about, and that is the only part that bugs me. He even filled in the MPN and UPC.

If it is completely translated and tested this might happen. It will have a “Reproduction-Card” stamp on the box to avoid scams if it happens.

You could even take it a step further and design a new box and have the description of the game mention that it is a fan-translation. Even the logo could say “Virtual Fishing: English Fan-Translation”. The manual could also clearly state this and even have a few pages dedicated to the process, who was involved, and include a description of what was translated.

thank you for all of your hard work thunder and ben! it is really great to see another japanese game translated. the love that this quirky counsel gets is astonishing. i’ll find some time this week to play with this initial release and look for any problems that need fixing.

cheers!

welcome.

you might want to keep an eye on this project: http://www.flashmasta.com/2015/07/22/wonderswan-flash-cart-progress/

I would assume that this wasn’t a universal addition to the case, nothing official. If it had been we would have seen one pop-up before this. This was probably something created by the manager of a specific Blockbuster location. This history behind this particular case is what interests me, and I doubt we will ever know where it came from or who created the check list.

that is really interesting. i don’t know much about the SNES hardware. now i feel like i need to poke around a bit and see if anything was released that would have required such a mod. have you tried asking on the nintendoage forums? i’m sure the talented engineers here will be able to help you with more info, but i feel like you might find more specifics at nintendoage.

whatever happens, keep us informed. i really want to find out what this is. maybe you found something really special.

all the time i forget to save, or i overwrite a part of a project. sometimes i get discouraged, but eventually i come back and pick up where i left off. don’t get frustrated. you are doing a great thing and everyone appreciates your efforts. it will get done when its done and on that day i’ll look forward to finally spending some time with this game.

if it turns out that this was something removed from the game, it would be really neat if it was hacked back in.

Ben, are their any graphics for boot(s) in the ROM?

That is really sweet. I’m glad those pics ended up on this site. Thanks to both for sharing!

Doom.

so what you just said was that someone dumped the cart to a ROM and you may or may not be the only one with the full version of SF as a .VB ROM file?

i’m not sure i would have admitted that publicly. assuming, that is what i just read. lol. i’d be worried about my inbox blowing up.
