i tried a few amplified speakers and even a stereo. i found that the most fun for me was using headphones. i get lost in the sound when its right in my ears. especially with the vb.

Has anyone played The Unfinished Swan by Giant Sparrow? It is a concept game where you paint the world around you from white to black. Tossing out blobs of black paint allow the world to be revealed, so that you can explore it. Along the way you uncover story elements that explain this world and find hidden objects that can be used to purchase different objects that later affect game play. It is an interesting take on a first person perspective game. It uses very simple graphics and unfolds at a smooth slow pace. I think it would work well, in some form, on the VB. Going from black to shades of red to reveal a 3D world.

wouldn’t it be nice if this was them hinting at 3ds VC releases.

what kind of store would order such a piece?

probably the larger chain stores, like Toys R Us. i can’t imagine the mom & pop video game stores ordering something like that.

i truly believe that only the hardcore fans of this console, mainly those on this site, would consider tossing $100 at a digital game. indy games are usually under $15, most are in the $5-7 range. AAA titles (like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night/Mighty No. 9) were $28 and $20 respectively.

i fear that asking $100 for the digital tier would only get the campaign laughed at.

that is a nice bit of VB history. what is the back story behind this order form? did you work at a store in the mid-90s?

the hyper fighting (SFII) ROM is currently the only one that would not work (too large). it has not been dumped or released (yet — hopefully never — sorry — biased). meaning, everything currently released will indeed work. you’ll need to pad some games to 2MB with the VB padding tool. it is the same way for all commercially released roms, and their hacks and translations.

almost all of the club nintendo items go up over time. especially if you order them, put them away, and pull their mint condition self out for auction a year later. now that club nintendo rewards have been suspended in the US, some of the older items are going for a bit more money.

for about $60 you could probably grab a virtual boy, perhaps even lower if you were patient. For around that price it may be more difficult to get one in the condition you described. Also, this is one you can see (and hopefully test) in person before you trade for it, that is something to consider.

if you always wanted a virtual boy then i say go for it.

Cheers!

that turned out rather amazing. i am very interested in trying one out. what is the cost per print (including the rubber)? would it be feasible to list these on an auction site?

Welcome to the site. This is a great community full of a variety of knowledgeable people.

Here is some info on the FlashBoy:
http://www.planetvb.com/modules/hardware/index.php?type=flashcarts&v=fb

The FlashBoy+ is a standard Flash Kit with battery back-up (for those few games that need it). To flash the cart you’ll need to use a bit of software that is Windows based. ROMs need to be padded to 2MB in size, and there is software for that as well.

Homebrew is mostly listed on the site here:

i love following what you are doing with this game. i found it very interesting how you are storing the images to reduce rom size. these tools are great because they help to show those interested in making a game that tools can save you a great deal of time and make specific tasks easier to replicate.

thanks for sharing.

that is a neat video that helps to show what we usually only read about.

Does anyone here in North America want to become an apprentice VB display repair technician? (he said, only half-jokingly) 😉

I would love to intern under you. =)

i greatly respect your reasons behind this project and i think he would have been proud.

it looks interesting. i did not know how much had been accomplished with this device.

This is something that would have benefited the Bound High! reproduction cart run. It would be nice to see a ROM patch released that fixes this issue for FB+ users, who may experience it.

Nice find DogP =)

Well the coder on that project is Alek Maul himself.
So I guess he takes what he have 🙂

i just found that posted on his facebook.

cheers.

i wonder if they are using Alek Maul’s PVSnesLib? it reminded me of Joe and Mac meets Rick Dangerous. i’m instantly thinking it will be slow and repetitive. some of the early vids seem to have much faster gameplay than the kickstarter video. i wish they had a small demo.

i’m still more interested in playing Sydney Hunter & The Mayan’s Revenge for NES and Sydney Hunter & The Shrines of Peril for Intellivision. the slower pace seems more acceptable on those systems.

the VB was never released in the UK, so there will be no ‘UK’ specific games. With that said, the unit does not have a lock-out. You can play Japanese carts on a US system, etc.

so i think you are just looking for all of the English language VB games except for golf and baseball?
