I am horrible at searching this forum. I always look to Ben to post specific answers! lol. There is a thread here that discusses the mirrors and servos. There were things discussed with electronics as well as just bending things back into place. After reading your 1st post I instantly recalled this thread because I think it will relate to what you are experiencing. I just can’t find it! Help, Ben?
Andrew Borman (a video game preservationists) at The Strong Museum in Rochester, NY spoke with me about wanting a way to capture VB game-play. If anyone would be interested in a donation, he can be reached here: aborman@museumofplay.org
I have a family member who was a manager at more than one GameStop. This person has stories of corporate telling them to smash retro trade-ins with a hammer to increase demand.
I’ve had many a retail management positions. With almost certainty I can suggest that top-side up labels were done by employees who were told to apply stickers and did so with the understanding that it was a case for carrying. Bottom-side down labels were probably done by managers who understood the case was part of the sales presentation (EG: the label faces the side of the case that opens).
I like this list idea, however, I feel that I should point out that you will not be able to edit the 1st post forever. Eventually this thread will be a collection of posts, without a central list.
With that said…
Retro City Rampage has the Virtual Meat Boy stage.
I have a pretty unique VB collection. Check my PVB profile page. Anyways, I own this… It’s JB (with all hacks applied) on a reproduction board w/custom label.
It’s the only “reproduction” I’ve ever seen. Mega Ran did a Freestyle holding it once. =O
I would 100% trust ThunderStruck to compare your ROM with what we have. He has done some amazing things for this community already (hacks, translation work, homebrew, applications, coding, etc). He also works in computers and is very knowledgeable about the VB.
I’ve been on the Internet since it’s conception. I started on VAX dummy terminals browsing Web sites with text only. One thing I learned early on was to provide different information for different sign-ups. Worst thing someone got off me is they know one of my throwaway e-mail accounts (already heavily tweaked for spam) and had a chance (for over a year?) to access my PVB account.
After reading this thread, that password has just been made more defend-able. =)
It has always logged me out, since the beginning. I’ve never cared or been annoyed, nor have I ever felt it was a problem. I allowed my browser to store my log-in details, which has made logging in a 1 click solution.
I got to play Fix it Felix at the arcade in Disneyland just after the movie came out. The cabs were set to free-play. Most kids just walked buy them…. It was strange seeing this as I grew up during the Golden Age of arcades. It was a really fun game. I might have to visit my local Walmart this week and grab one for my desk.
Vectrex is an amazing system. It’s truly unique. I never bought one because I spoke with a person who repaired them and that conversation put me off. Shielded speaker upgrades, wire fixes, caps, controller issues, etc. Plus the 3D goggles are super expensive! lol. I would love to see the games ported to the VB! I played some of them on a PSP EMU, and even started a project to miniaturize and print the overlays for my PSP. My favorite thing about the Vectrex is that it became more popular after they stopped selling it. The Vectex has more homebrew than commercial releases now!
