I could be wrong (shocking, I know), but I thought a new one from Richard w/ box and everything was $130 USD? Or perhaps that was the “shipped to Canada” price? Not sure, it’s been a while since I got mine.

I can not speak for Richard, as far as I am aware he has never shipped them with boxes. FB boxes came from Chris and FB+ boxes were eventually passed onto Ben from what I can recall. Should still be $100 USD (might require 2 donors as well).

i’ve seen them sell on ebay between $80 and 125. most users here will know where to purchase a new one for $100.

i’m not surprised myself, this is a very mature community.

that is cool! i had to drive a few hours to a museum to get my 1st 2-player experience. someone in walking distance would be ideal!

it would also be nice for development purposes. compile and test on emulation with a real controller.

Replacements for the stand, eye mount, and eye shade are being distributed by Hyperkin. I’ve seen lots of all 3 on eBay going for around $50 with free shipping.

As for the adapter, I am not an expert on that so I will let others chime in. I do know that you can buy an official Japan or US adapter (each needs a certain plug). There are also 3rd party solutions.

I have to ask, is your username from the Korean hip-hop group?

I haven’t read that piece for a while. A lot of interesting points are brought up from marketing to niche toys.

thank you for taking the time to write that. i found that a very interesting read.

We don’t know the situation. He might need the money to be able to spend time in developing the game. The version he might release might have extra tracks and maybe another version for everyone?

according to the proposal i read the cart will have hidden/bonus levels the ROM will not. obviously i want the cart, because i want to play the full experience. i am all for giving him the $50 up front so he has the money to develop the cart. i just don’t want to miss out on a chance to add the cart for $99 because they are limited in quantity or the tier to buy-in is limited.

i’m also concerned that a limited cart release will bring the same level of negativity that the HF price gouging did. i fully understand that this community is not in a position to set up a 1000 cart run production. perhaps we need to start moving in that direction? i honestly feel that we are at a point that we need to focus on cases and connectors so we can finally get past the donor bottle neck.

i would also like to help as much as possible. MK only needs to ask.

it’s cool to see these screens collected in one place!

i could get the emu to load on cfw 6.60b10, select a rom, but then the screen would go black. i was never able to find how to get it working.

the current plan has a limited $50 tier with a $99 CIB option. so $150 or the same price as HF. my issue is not the price, its the limited quantity line. everyone who wants one should be able to get one. it seems like this plan may be a little early. he may be better off waiting to see if the case and connector posts go on to produce usable parts.

limiting extras like bonus maps, books, t-shirts is much more acceptable to me than limiting who can get a copy of the game. after all isn’t the entire point of this project to produce a new VB game?

i completely dislike patreon campaigns with a monthly collections model. i prefer to spend my limited funds once on a well researched purchase. kickstarter as proven itself to be a nice service for the couple of times i have used it.

i’m interested in this project, especially after reading his proposal. however, i would very much like to experience a completed 1 level demo before committing the funds for a CIB cart.

it is possible that the “1” was left there on the day the design/writing/etc project was completed. i have published things with the completion date and not the publication date, it happens and editors can’t catch everything!

it could just be a coincidence that E3 was on the 11th.

hmm, i wonder.

Just to add-on a bit…

Mario’s Tennis was a little glitchy. Some sprite glitches and the ball would disappear over the net at times (ending the round). We also managed to glitch the score into saying “Error”.

HF played amazingly smooth. The sound was perfectly in sync. I loved how it says “you won” or “you lose” on the appropriate VB. we used the codes Ben posted and tested all fighters, stages, and the hidden Ben character. This game is fun on its own, but it is so much more enjoyable with a 2nd player.

Everyone who played Bound High! enjoyed it. Same should be said for Space Pinball.

thanks Ben for preserving more VB content!

so he got to play red alarm? i wonder if he remembers this experience.
