exept Nesters funky bowling and that game wont work on the flashboy even thought I have tried like 6 diffrent roms

Do you want me to take a look at the cart ?

PM sent

That was excellent  – very, very funny.

You have a lot of talent.

Ryan, I’ve just Emailed you about repairing / replacing the cart.

BTW if anyone else ever has trouble, please contact me. Doesn’t matter how long you’ve had the cart, I will fix it for you.

Could someone send me an old cable ?. I have a cutting plotter here which I use for vinyl etc and some sheets of self-adhesive copper foil for making flexible circuits. I think I might be able to make some display cables using it.

Yes, very good job

Did you use Kynar wire ?

Add some sound tones to Simon, that’d make a good entry.

1st: FlashBoy #100 (Special edition black cartridge)

Wow ! the black paint job came out really nice

as we can use some mario’s tennis for example and overwrite them…

How can you overwrite a ROM ?

Or do you mean swap out the chip for another ?

This guy has a dozen for sale.

Perhaps he has more not listed.

If you can’t get it working with a new cable, send it to me and I’ll fix it / replace the PCB for you.

It’s funny because I was just talking to Chris about it today. He is thinking about doing a small run of Blox in the future.

But, if you want to do it yourself then just send me a donor cart and I’ll convert it for you.

There are news about next batch of flashboys?

I’m working on them right now. Should have 12 ready to send to Chris by next week.

You could always ask him if anyone has dropped out on the pre-order list.

you could redesign the box label saying something like “Now with AMD inside!”

🙂

BTW the chips are the same capacity, speed etc as the Intels. I do like AMD Flash though, I’ve been using it for years in the VecFlash carts.

what kind of chips do you use for storage?
Intel nand?

Yes, but I’m swapping over to AMD when I run out of the current PCB’s. Been having a bit of trouble with the second batch of chips, fortunately the broker exchanges the bad one’s for good.

Which means, I will be able to finish the batch of 50 (the other 20) I promised Chris, in the next week or so. Then, there will be a delay while I re-design the boards and get them made (and also Chris has commitments with exams). But like Chris said before, the 50 will more than cover the pre-order list as it stands now.

I haven’t a lot of time to work on the loader at the moment, but I have done a quick fix to make the file select pane wider –

Get it here

I’m glad someone likes it 🙂

If it wasn’t for Chris doing the connectors and casing etc, I would’nt have made more than a couple of carts. There’s just so much involved in getting them made, and it’s all done ‘in-house’ as they say.

Chris, DogP lives in the US, I’m sure he’d be up for dumping your games for you.

How did you make the cart, was there a limited run of Blox PCB’s ?

BTW if anyone wants to distribute a VB game, the FlashBoy PCB can be used with just the Flash. And I have a batch of about 50 chips which would be suitable for this (but not the FB).

Changing the subject a bit, I like what you did with your Blox box. I hope the sticker’s Chris and I are using will look as good.

It’s good that the boxes from the donor carts won’t be wasted, I like recycling.

But the flashing utility which (I think) DogP developed does this automatically.

Pat wrote the padder, it detects and automatically pads files < 16MBit. It works really well and takes only seconds to prep all your commercial ROM's in one go. Homebrew files will load a bit differently, with only portions of the flash written to (due to the small size). This speeds up loading to only a few seconds for some files.
