What battery cages are being used on these?

These are the one’s I use (CR1225 version). It’s the thinnest holder, but still needs a bit of dremeling to get it to fit the thin VB cart cases.

I don’t know if you could hack it into a GB cart.

I can 3D print you an attachment plate –

Once you’ve got that, you can make the shade from foam (or even stiff cardboard) to attach to it.

I got the impression a case was only a dollar or two cost.

Yes, cheap to make, but takes time 1 hour per case.

(BTW the latest revision now ‘snaps’ together).

If you can find a compatible connector that’d be really great. I can re-do the PCB and Hedgetrimmer will work his magic CAD skills on the case.

The pause is achieved simply by shorting a pin on the CPU to ground

I did this years ago, but it randomly crashes the CPU. You need to de-bounce the switch I think to avoid this.

I don’t have a console connector (anyone have one I could buy?)

I need one too. The one I had I used in the Dump-O-Matic©

if homebrew ever takes off and if reproduction carts get higher in demand, we are going to kill off a great chuck of usable carts.

I think we will run out. I don’t think there’s many more boxes out there. The one’s that are left, are being sold at very high prices (on Ebay etc).

is there any way to “print out a couple of translucent red eyeguards clear enough to use

Certainly not on my printer. Even the top end Objet machines print clear resin distorted.

Must be to do with layers and diffraction.

Do they even make translucent filament?

Yes, I’ve seen some.

Soooo — how much for a printed one

You can have this one. I don’t need it. I just printed it to check the .stl

It’s ABS, isn’t it?

PLA, which is very similar

I’ve already sent your FlashBoy+, but if you PM me your address I’ll send it to you.

Try this

I printed one today. It fit’s great !

I’ve run out of black filament, but I think it looks OK in red.

I’m guessing that more cases get broken during the making of FlashBoys

Yes, I busted about 20 cases when I was teaching my engraver to cut the USB hole.

I’ll be back using original cases when I’ve used up the spare connectors.

How much do they cost to print?

Very cheap. 1Kg of PLA filament costs about £25, and it make lots and lots.

BTW when Vaughanabe13 finishes his cart, I’m definitely up for printing some custom cases for it.

what format would you like just the head unit in?

.obj or .stl will be fine – thanks

Nice model !

Do you have one with just the head-unit (without the stand) ?

All the model files are made by Hedgetrimmer. He’s a professional CAD modeller, as you can tell from his work.

Yes, seems OK.

Two identical halves fit together to make the complete plug.

However, the design needs a few tweaks, as the holes for the prongs are a little too small and the plug end is too large to fit the VB’s link port.

because they could no longer sell their FlashBoys with buggy Bound High!

I didn’t know people were doing that.

I printed this today. It’s one half of Hedgetrimmers link plug design.

It’s a MakerBot Replicator 2

I print them on 0.27mm (medium res) and it takes about 50 minutes to make one complete case. So, not really practical for mass production.

Hedgetrimmer did me a few adaptions to the case .stl, so I can drop a FlashBoy+ board straight in without having to mod the case.

It’s a way for me to use up a surplus of connectors (left from failed case modding).

BTW I print the shells facing down so I get a nice smoooth finish from the print bed.

Here’s some I made today
