I sent you a PM about this. Posting here for higher visibility. That case is looking pretty sweet!

The time and effort you have put into your projects have been simply amazing. Looks wonderful!

Yeah, I second that about other repros as well. I doubt anyone is giving Nintendo or the developers a slice of the pie with those sales.

Maybe Hyper Fighting hits closer to home because of its history within the community.

I am glad it was made available because it gave me an opportunity to play it. I most likely wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.

Okay okay, I decided to stack them because I guess it’s kind of ridiculous to assume that everybody knows what these games are from a sliver of color. Oddly enough I’m missing a Wario box. Waterworld and Jack Brothers are obviously no boxers. I definitely have a complete North American set of loose carts, with multiples.

My humble collection.

Sorry for the bad pic, I tried to spread them out so they can be seen, but it’s tough when you have quite a few. I also have a thing against displaying my boxes vertically haha, I don’t want them to get any more crunched than they already are.

To the left are all the North American boxes I have that I’m proud of because I got them all from Toys R Us when they were clearancing the Virtual Boy. I didn’t take good care of them, but hindsight is 20/20.

In the middle are my Japanese games and on the right are my reproductions.

Not shown are my three virtual boys. Two of which I had the ribbon cables repaired and one which still works perfectly. The treasure chest on top contains most of my games so I can access them more easily. As you can probably tell I’m in need of protectors for the bottoms of some of games.

Being in the print industry, I’m super sketchy about press releases and stuff like that when there are high res images online. I’m not sure if there were images of this online, but I can guarantee you in a short amount of time I could take a high res file and print it professionally and nobody would know the difference. Unless you bust out a magnifying glass you knew the difference between digital and offset printing perhaps.

Actually, as I am writing / talking this, I could probably make a Layman’s guide to determining whether something is printing offset or digital. All you really need is a loop, or basically a magnifying glass to tell the difference. That might help people down the road determine whether or not their pieces are recreations. I’m sure this information is online also.

Unfortunately the virtual boy is an expensive system to collect for. No cheap options unless you get lucky in the wild (or have connections). If you have a little Ingenuity you could probably buy a system without a stand and a few cheap games. Then maybe get a flash boy? It will still set you back a bit, but at least you would have the ability to play (almost) every game without actually buying them. Then you get to try out the homebrews too!

I’m not sure how it is nowadays but maybe emulation with some kind of VR setup work also?

Best of luck though. I’ve never seen deals on here that are better than what you could normally get on eBay.

I work in the printing industry and I can tell you from my standpoint that these are common problems on any job.

The galactic pinball manual has what we would refer to as a hickey. That’s where a piece of debris would be stuck to the roller not allowing ink to transfer to the sheet. These can be tricky to catch if it’s not on the front cover.

The second picture we would refer to as out of register. That’s when all the colors don’t lay on top of each other correctly and are off a little bit. Keep in mind these are printed offset so each of the colors (cmyk) has to stack on top of the next perfectly. If the Press isn’t properly calibrated, this can happen.

These are just some examples of things that weren’t caught as the product was being made.

Sounds neat. Do you have a mockup of what you’re thinking of having made?

Here’s a neat lil tabletop that I found. Being a horror fan and a virtual fan, this kind of represents both of those with the theme and the color scheme.

I second more Faceball!

Here’s a rough mock-up I made today using images I found online and just modifying them. It conveys the general idea of what I want to do. Looks like I can’t print on foil anymore so I went with a different route. The end product will look similar but it’s going to be put in one of those deep picture frames. I’m going to print the Virtual Boy logo and the Virtual Boy on clear vinyl and adhere that to the glass in the front, then images behind the eye piece and the background image will be printed out and placed behind that glass about an inch and a half or so. I’m hoping this way when you look at it, it kind of gives a sense of depth.

As I said this is a purely rough draft, and in the end I will recreate all of it. Any constructive criticism would be appreciated!

Another random cool VB shirt I stumbled upon.

Mine. One is originally owned.

EDIT: All US. The 103 was purchased at toys r us in Rockford IL during a clearance. The other 2 were eBay.

You are so right! They ARE backwards. Good eyes.

Holy moly! That’s awesome! It’s a very cool image for sure. Looks like it’s back to the drawing board haha.

Oh my God. Literally was going to post a WTB Faceball and saw you put some more up.

Aaaaand they’re gone.

Any chance of a ReReRelease?

Wow those went quick! I was JUST on your site a few days ago when I got Virtual Fishing. I even signed up for your email notifications to try and get a heads up but I guess this was a special circumstance. Looks like I’ll be back to checking the forums every 12 hours 🙂

I’d buy one! Add me to yer list please.

Nice reply. I always appreciate it when people truly want to help. I won’t be programming anything anytime soon (if ever) but I feel that if I wanted to, there is hope because of people like you!
