For the atari, which one would you like to see on 3D? Just remember i’m gonna try this to take experiencie with development for the vb…

I’d have to say my fav original game for 2600 has to be warlords. but you really need the VB link cable for that. What about pitfall 2 could you do that one. or river raid or barnstormer Id like to see updated versions of all 3 of those. You know like a Super Mario Bros. All Stars. Just my 2 cents.

Great Job Shenmueso, Kudos I especially like the intro. It’s so nice to actually see fellow VB enthusists around the world.

Nightmare-ish music, terrible play control, impossible difficulty, stay away from this game.

Ahh Deadly Towers. I actually bought this game as a kid because of the cool artwork on the package. This was before I knew about game reviews. You failed to mention 2 other aspects of the game. One the graphics sucked it was like you were milo in pajama land (instead of the cool figure they showed on the cover) and The level design was totally uninspired as well. Broderbund had to go back to school before trying to make games.

It’s hard to imagine That Legacy of the Wizard,The battle of Olympus and The Gaurdian Legend which are all three great games came from Broderbund………. years later

1.Virtual Boy (Because it offers an experience like no other and it’s possibilities for homebrew).

2.Wii (I’m a fan for motion control and to me graphics can always come second. I’m also a fan for originality. Not just how every system can copy/and or improve on it.)

3.NES (So much innovation went into this system. All things that are common place to any game system were pioneered in this system. From games that actually end instead of just get harder and harder to passwords and saving batteries)

4.Super Nintendo (Id have to say this was the golden age of Nintendo).

5.PS3 (I enjoy the downloadable games which are modern retro versions of what I used to play).

I’m playing Red Steel 2 for Wii. Great game seems that few gave it a chance because 1’s play control was so weak. Picked it up at Toys R Us for $15.00 back in the states. I also picked up Skyward sword for wii Incredible game lot’s of depth. Surprisingly the sword is more intuative in RS2. Still a rockin game though. I used to play Shooter 2 PS3 but Iv’e come to a stand still on it. And I’m a fan of neo old school so I enjoyed solder x-2 final prototype. but can’t get to level 7 on it. s0 I’m kinda discouraged to buy the expansion pack.

Hey HT thanks for the post. The pic looks great is there anyway that you can figure out what one of these babys would cost before you produce it. Also can’t decide if I should order your stand fix kit or save up for the adjustable stand. Are you going to work on parts to replace the stand clamp as well. And finnally if doing a rebatch of the stand fix kits can you make them black instead of silver. Please forgive me if it’s just not do-able.

Thunder do you have the theme for Kid Icarus?

DogP now that we have your attention do you have any time frame when the pro aftermarket V.B. Link cable will be finished. I’m looking forward to buying one :).

Ok Now as we speak three of us are united by dropbox. A few of you have told me that you would rather not use dropbox and that’s ok. But for the remainder I have sent PM’s and gotten no response. I feel with 2 artists 2 really good programmers and possibly 2 music guys and even a story guy we can get started. We even have a person that signed up for testing. It’s a small team but it’s enough for now. And as always anyone can join in that hasn’t already. Just post or send me a PM with your email so I can add you to the dropbox. OK thanks for your support but were really not getting anywhere until we can communicate.

Heh, I’m no writer – I wouldn’t want to even judge on story I’m afraid,

Ok sorry for the misunderstanding L___E___T. Thanks for DogP’s post bigmak. DogP if your listening now’s the time to sign up for this, we could really use your skills.:) No I wasn’t trying to copy anyones post I know that your not saying that I was. I just know that we have talent and akumis’s video proves just how much talent we can pool together to get things done.

I can’t code, or draw…maybe I can test ? no idea. I might have a suggestion or two if that’s oki.

Were glad to get as many willing people on this that want to contribute.

I would start with a demo or an engine that is already built..and try to work it that way. There are several examples that might work out (with the authors permission)

Your not the first that has brought that idea to my attention that may be the direction we’ll go with this but I have to ask the team you know it’s a democracy.

Ok so now we have L___E___T for graphics and I’m assuming story. It looks like the winds are changing and you guys probably won’t be doing Insecticide. But we have enough artist and programmers and story writers to get started. Id like to see more people on Music IMO. Who here thinks we should have our own post called The Unifed VB Game?

I haven’t looked at this for a long time, but it’s amazing. It is of much higher quality than I expected. The background and foreground, even though they are simple layers thrown into a 3D space, look really cool. This is going to be interesting.

Thank you for your compliments!:)

Rockin, So we’ve got Lester Knight for stories if we go with something other than Incecticide. and Virtual_Ben (and Myself if we go with Insecticide) for graphics regardless of what we go with. VirtualChris for music HorvatM for programming and RunnerPack to put it all together and add some Zing.

I actually pretty good in drawing sprites.
But only png. ore something like that becouse i don’t know what you actually need.

Virtual_Ben this should be a PM but I can’t figure out how to PM you so here it goes. What ever the team decides on. you know it is a democracy. I and VirtualChris could use your help in Insecticide. That would free me up to do what I do best backgrounds. I use BMP format but VirtualChris likes to use PNG. it’s mostly just making insects fight if you can do that PM me and I’d like to see some exsmples of your work.

However, I still think starting a new game with input from the whole community is a better idea, if that’s even possible.

Great Idea the only problem is that you don’t have me. I know you may be thinking who needs morintari any way He’s just heading up the project and getting it off the ground. that is true. my commitment is with Insecticide. I cannot and will not start a new project without first completing it. if anyone wants to help me on that great I could use the help but if you start a new unified VB community game that isn’t Insecticide I’m afraid you have to count me out.:(

Ok, no big secret but the game I am working on is Insecticide. If we want to make that the Unified VB game I can do the graphics but some help would be nice.Ive talked to Chris and he said that he’d be all for it. I think I’m going to redo the crawl cycle. If I had my druthers I’d like to focus on character design and backgrounds, and have a better animator work on the sprite animation. There are some affine mode effects that Id like to incorporate. But Id we need the help of RunnerPack to do them. Also I figured out a way to create 3d backgrounds using 2d graphics but I need RunnerPack’s help on that also. Hey guys let me know if your not interested in making the Unified VB game Insecticide. Also It’s not too late to have more people sign on we especially need artists and some music advisors would be good as well.

Ok VirtualChris that was good. It kinda has a CastleVania feel to it. Ok I’m going to repeat my last post because I don’t want it lost in the shuffle. it’s a hopeful plea that maybe we can get some more talent on this thing. So here it goes

Ok, so we’ve started to get a few heavy-hitters here. I may be speaking out of turn but how about people like DogP. Ive seen your Mario Kart and am just drooling about what effects we could have with that kind of programming. what about DanB,Dasi or even Kr155E. I know there is more talent out there if we can just get you to sign on. What about our Artists like L___E___T and those guys. Come on sharpen your pencils, mind your syntax and bust out your Chipophones I know you’ve got em. Well maybe that’s going alittle too far. but let’s all be a part of this. For the good of the community. What do ya say?…

akumie wrote:but people like us who do not make games should really not complain

I actually am working on a game but you wouldn’t know it for the snails pace that I’m working at. Hence the old asian proverb “many hands make for light work”.

I’m just saying that we have enough people to start a small company. Why not utilize the talent? The Rom does’nt have to be paid for as much as how the whole VB community would benefit from the games. Can you Imagine what PVB would look like in 5 years with 5 homebrew licencee quality games.
There is a reason why Revival Studios is producing a quality VB game. If we had more quality games more companies would start to see the VB as a platform worth supporting and if that happened maybe we would see the release of the second Virtual Boy. Maybe I’m dreaming but then again maybe not. We don’t know if we don’t try.
I would love to head up this project believe me but I have too many irons in the fire so to speak. But please somebody lead this project out.

This was a Great idea 🙂 what better way to tell the public that the VB is alive and kickin than to show them what you all have done. I may be a uber noob for suggesting this but we have alot of good talent here it’s a shame that all of the good programmers can’t get together with the good artists and create a game that would be like the ones released by the licencees. you know produce a game the quality of EFX It’s just an Idea if you don’t like it please be gentle.
