That’s all fine and dandy, Hunter is an excellent example of polygon graphics but it was DanB that told me polygon graphics were not the way to go. Especially the high level of polygons I would need to create the graphics I want to achieve.

I’ve tried this but I’m afraid that with all of that pressure on the visor that it could rip. So I went back to the old faithful position of crouched down playing. Could that pressure rip the visor?

As far as 3d models I was’nt talking about renders that were from differant angles like 3d movies. I was talking about objects that are modeled in 3d modeling programs like Max and Maya that were placed in the Virtual Boy’s Virtual space. I guess there is no way to do that. Are their programmers that are working on polygon engines that are good enough for games and would consider working on making a displacement engine for the V.B. as well. I mean think of the possibilities once we had the tools. I’ve seen DanB’s Zelda screenshots and even though very impressive if the buildings and the river actually had depth how much more impressive would that be. The way I see it is we can only go so far with 2d games on a 3d level the next step is displacement, and then polygon generated graphics. But I know I’m not telling you anything that you already don’t know.

Here’s a new question same topic. I looked in the Wiki (of course a non programmer looking in the Wiki lol (a bit like Mickey looking in the book of incantations in Sorcerer’s Apprentice). And couldn’t find anything on this so here it goes. You know how Wario’s arms are on one level of 3d space and his body on another level. Is it possible to use 3 colors on his body and a different 3 colors on his arm?

Ok I get what your saying about how it can’t be done but what about putting a 3d object in a background you see this in almost every V.B. Game on the market. Can we not do that either. And if the Wiki allows you to do that why won’t it just raise some pixels on the z axis (toward the viewer) and lower some on the z axis (away from the viewer) by some kind of map or some other way of specifing instead of drawing each level and saying ok this is level one away from the eye-level 3 closer to the eye. Could it be added to the Mad Scientist Laboratory. I mean did Nintendo model all of their objects or did they have some kind of displacement tools. I guess I see it as a modeling tool just another way of making a 3d object on the Virtual Boy. Please tell me what I’m missing.

Guys Thanks for all of your help. I went to the Spriters Resource and found the answers to my questions. But seeing all of the sprites ripped from other games leads me to a greater question. In the far future not now too busy with life and the game that I’m commited to now. But in the future is it possible to use those sprites and give credit(while I was there I read the terms and conditions) to create our own V.B. Zelda, CastleVania,Metroid and other games. I mean the sprites are just there for the taking and I’ve found sites that have the Music to these wonderful games. I know a little about tilesets and pixel edited graphics and I’m sure on all of PVB somebody works with music. Is it possible to remake the classics(We could write our own stories and add our own graphics and music) on Virtual Boy!

So once you assign the color pallete can you change it per sprite, or is it only for the whole image. For example can you have a sprite with 2 shades of red and black and a scrolling background with one shade of black and 3 shades of red?
Well guys here’s the final version I probably will not change it unless there are some real problems. If you notice I avoided the issue of rhyming with Gunpei and Yokoi all together. Anyway I hope you like the new imagery.

I recommend using Pro Motion 6 by cosmigo http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/index.php it is Deluxe Paint for the new millennium. It is strictly a pixel editor so you really are not going to be able to do modern image manipulating with it but for pixel editing it rocks. It’s set up specifically to do sprites and tilesets to make drawing theese kind of games a breeze. Unfortunately I haven’t bought it because I can’t spare the cash right now but I’ve used the demo and it is on my list of must haves!

Thanks guys, hey since you read it do you think I should add something about Gunpei Yokoi. I wanted to but I couldn’t figure out how to pronounce his name. As you probably have figured you can’t rhyme what you cannot pronounce. Anyway thank you for your compliments.
