Hey guys I watched a documentery on Insects today. It seems that a preying mantis eats the head of it’s victim first then digests the body. So I got to thinking mabe if the head and intersection of the torso could be danger points to quickly finish your opponent. The life bar could be for the overall health of your opponent, but multiple strikes in the face could rip off it’s head or multiple hits where the insect is segmented could dis-embowel the insect. I normally don’t like games like Mortal Kombat but to me this would be like really fighting in nature we’ll have to see what the etemologist thinks about these ideas though. 😉

the shoulder buttons could act as action buttons. Forward on the left D-pad and up on the right D pad could cause your insect to rear up on its back legs, the shoulder button could cause it to strike forward. But if only the shoulder buttons were pressed the insect would jump with all of it’s legs it’s like the shoulder button causes it to preform the movement pre-determained by the two D-pads working together.another example would be pressing the forward on the left D-pad and backward on the right D-pad causing the insect to rear up on it’s hind legs and block.
Also since there are no copyrights I think it would be cool if there was a fatality system simular to eternal champions the fatalities could be triggered by the backgrounds for example a stage where an ant lion is in the background among hills like in Actraiser. and another stage where you are jumping among llilypads and frogs are in the background waiting to devour the loser also I think because it is an incect combat game there should be a secret stage that is a picnic anyway just some thoughts 💡

Thanks Kri55e I appricate your help and Ill be sure to ask for more help when needed thanks again
Sincerely,
Morintari 🙂

Just an Idea before you get to programming the movement for the characters I think it would be a cool idea because incects are segmented to work with two directional pads one for the front part and the other for the back part and you do a number of fighting moves using this control scheme let me know what you think

Hello Runnerpack,
I need once again to apologize for proper etiquette. As you can read from my profile that I am a newbie (even though Ive been refering to PVB for at least 2 years now). I did not know about private messages and I still don’t know how to send one (Heck I still haven’t figured out how to change my profile image yet). As far as sending it on the Incect Combat thread that was I was in a hurry and I did’nt have time to read all of the posts (some of them saying that he’s looking for artists for sprite editing. I should of read all of the posts then posted a comment but I didn’t. As far as starting a new thread I just wanted him to see that I wanted to create original graphics for him. I want to contribute to Planet Virtual Boy, and I can’t through programming. So I want to contribute the only way I can through art.

Morintari again,
I never said that there was anything wrong with the homebrew, it’s just hard for some of us that arn’t that savvy with Gorrilla glue and an X-acto knife. Anyway I contacted Alberto and he said it is possible to view the Wii on the VB using VEGL. The only problem is that the rendering is slow and He’s tryed compression techniques and he can’t seem to speed it up enough to play. So I e-mailed him and asked if it’s possible to play a game in wireframe to speed up the rendering. it will be interesting what he has to say. I also asked him is it possible to make an accessory like the Flashboy that plugs into the VB like a gamepak and through usb interface provides straight bandwith to the VB instead of going the route of the link cable? Ill keep you posted.

RunnerPack,
I am familiar with Alberto’s approach to a link cable I wish we could get Richard Hutchinson interested in providing a link cable that wasn’t homebrew. Also it seems that Alberto’s virtual-e project is just what I’m looking for to make the VB compatible with the Wii and other systems. On the Wii emulator can you run the virtual consoles as well? (Assuming that there is a Wii emulator?)

🙂

Morintari again, OK now I’m working on my Punctuation. I must say thanks Hedgetrimmer for your apology it is accepted. Now I feel like were getting somewhere with some real technical answers. As DaVince has stated (paraphased greatly) that I imagine a the Wii running through the pc and then the VB displaying the graphics. My question is now is there anyway to emulate a Wii through a pc and do it well I think that mabe the infomation could run through a system simular to the flashboy hooked up to the pc via usb and then displayed on the VB. by the way now that we have a developer that is willing to make professional accessories to the VB has he thought about making a link cable?

Morintari again, Please I am not an engineer like yourself nor am I a programer I was not talking about the VB processing the polygons I was talking about the Wii processing the images and the Virtual Boy just displaying the objects in 3d I think that it is obvious that Nintendo is’nt doing anything with this technology and the tech really rocks come on there is nothing out on the market that can display 3d like the VB the lower res of the Wii could be dumbed down to fit on a VB screen if it was processed and even though it would only be in red and black it would be real true 3d but if it’s not a possability I understand

morintari here, I am not talking about an emulator but a way to play Wii games on the virtual boy
