@Kevin: Thanks man. I have done some tweaks based on those photos. Whenever you have time, could you please check the following four that I have attached? I have done adjustments to all of them.
Some comments:
Panic bomber: I worked on the helmet and also made him look up, which I think is more fun.
Space Invaders: I adjusted the value of the front facing plane. I think that will look more harmonious.
Teleroboxer: Some work done on the cracks and I removed them from going on top of the HYPERFLASH32 text, looks cleaner and makes more “sense”, I think.
Waterworld: Tweaks here and there, smoother dithering.
Bottom part of the label: Made the pattern look less jagged.
I’m currently working on a Red Alarm label and am also looking in to a default one.

@tydyedsyko: I agree. Let’s go with the cracked one as default and for now I won’t spend time on the other one.
@mellott124: Here’s a couple of labels I’ve been working on. I consider these WIP, and it would be cool if you could see how these look on the e-ink screen, before I continue tweaking them.
Hope you guys like them (200% size).
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also did a small update to the background plate on the template part of the label. I think it makes it less chaotic and cluttered.

Kevin sent me some photos of the labels on the e-ink screen. The Teleroboxer one with the hand is too dark I think so I will need to tweak that one. Perhaps the version with the cracked screen should actually be the default one. I think that design is more fun.
I’ll have a new design ready soon.

@mellott124: Thanks! I’ve attached the updated labels as .bmp files. Whenever you have time (no stress), could you please check on the e-ink screen. It will be helpful and if needed I’ll tweak depending on your feedback, mainly if they are too dark or too light.
@KR155E: Thank you for the kind words and I have to say, the designs you posted in the competition thread are really great. Some high quality artwork for sure.
Great catch with the L-block! Haha, this is exactly why I post these here. If you have any more feedback/critique on the already existing labels or on the ones I will create, please don’t hesitate.

To start these off, here’s a comparison between the Panic Bomber and the Space Invader designs I did for the competition and the ones I recently tweaked (200% size). Old to the left.
I’ll go over these two (and the rest) at least one time more when they are all done.
EDIT: Make sure you click the image for full size.

—–OVERVIEW OF ALL LABELS—–
21-03-02: Zelda label and long icon done.
21-02-20: Fishbone label and icon done.
21-01-24: I’ve tweaked many of the labels and a couple of icons, stuff that’s been annoying me 🙂 I’ve also created a Snatcher long icon.

Congrats! Fun competition and great job with the labels everyone. Thanks to Kevin for arranging it!
@Kevin: Super nice of you to give away two carts. Thanks again for the great work you do.
Here is another one from me. I’m a bit slow 🙂
Edit: I’ll most likely create my own thread for these labels and update in that one whenever I’m done with a new design.

Cool designs everyone! I appreciate the variation.
I made a couple of more designs and a slight update to the space invaders label. I had actually done the “alternative” Teleroboxer one but was hesitant to post it as I’m not a particularly good pixel artist. Here it is anyway 🙂
I might do another one or two this weekend, but I think the ones I’ve done so far gives a nice picture of what my vision for the whole set it. Again, all will be tweaked before any final “release”. Feel free to critique/feedback if you have any!
I think going forward i’ll keep using the black background. It will make the set more cohesive.

Here’s a label for Teleroboxer. I might continue tweaking this one, but for now I’m pretty happy with the design. Hope you guys like it.
Edit: Forgot to add, if you have any feedback, please feel free to share it. I thought it would be fun for the cracks to go all over, like the screen has actually been broken. I could however do one where the screen is only cracked on the upper part.

Hi,
Here´s my first entry for the contest. I also went with the box art inspired design. I think that will look cool on the eInk display.
Thoughts behind the design:
– legibility (keeping it simple as it’s a very small design)
– hyperflash32 in focus! (it is the name of the product after all)
– minimal yet cool design (the idea is to pick one or two elements that represents each game)
– creating a template (the game name and illustration will change depending on the game, all other elements stay the same)
Hopefully everything is crisp when loaded on the eInk display. The idea is to create the full set (if anyone is interested).
Hope you like it!

Thanks for the update! I think all of us understand the reason for the delay and also appreciate all the hard work you´re putting into this. Stay safe!
Just watched your video and enjoyed it. Didn’t know about the 3D system for the Famicom.
Bra jobbat! 🙂
Wow! Awesome update man. Really exciting stuff, it looks great. That e-ink display will be sweet and ROM selection without the PC is super!
I got me some GB cardboard inserts as one of my boxes was missing one and I followed your guide. Worked like a charm 🙂 Just wanted to say thanks!
I’d also be interested for homebrew and flash carts.
Thanks for keeping us updated!
