I made those, but how the hell did he end up with 5.These were supposed to be sold with the box / label etc and one per customer (as they are in demand).
The original Bound High cart you made for us several years ago were cart only. I have one of those, but I made a custom label, instruction booklet, box, etc. for it. AFAIK, I remember I sent my PhotoShop designs to someone here in the VB community who used them for good and finally evolved into the “retail Bound High” which you made and sold.
On a side note, is there anyone here who still remembers the “retail Blox” I made with help from people from here? I attach you the image for you to enjoy. It was my first “commercial box and instruction booklet” made 😛

Funny, several years ago we were all moaning about not having the Bound High ROM available. In the end it became available. Nothing happened, Nintendo didn’t sue anyone nor do anything even though everyone knew where it had come from. Now I log on and see another “please make XX ROM available”, where XX has transformed from Bound High to Hyper Fighting. He he he. Anyway, nice to see everything’s as it always was. Enjoy! 😉

A couple questions for you:Is the instruction booklet for Blox a complete instruction booklet with all necessary instructions for the game?
If you still have the original computer files that you created for the box art and instruction booklet for Blox, would you be willing to send those files to UncleTusker, so that they could be used for a future limited production run of Blox?
Thanks.
I have all the art. I don’t mind sharing it as I did with the Bound High instruction booklet and box. I’ve sent a message to UncleTusker so that he gives me a mail address to send them to.
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions regarding my collection. The problem is that I don’t want to split it and -to be honest- I’m not in a hurry to sell either. When/If I get in a hurry, I’ll post a list with individual prices, don’t worry 🙂

I apologize, I thought this was a cool find and I was playing coy. It is what it is, unfortunately the VB scene has died and shifted away to 3DS. I have no questions to ask, I know what I have and buy. The other good ol’ boys are KR155E, runnerpack, and mawa. They have the authority.I still enjoy brand new VB discoveries, as anyone here should.(?)
I’m just somebody that I used to know.
It’s a cool find. I think the VB scene hasn’t quite died, but it’s quieter than it used to be. I still have my VB collection, along with the Blox cart, the two Bound High carts, etc., but it’s in a cupboard and I use my 3DS to play in 3D, because it’s much easier to grab & play than having to assemble the VB (and I think the red/black contrast gives better 3D effect than the 3DS multi-colour screen, but as I said, playing 3DS is easier than VB).
Don’t suffer about it. I still love my VB collection and I’m sure many people here do too even though they don’t say much lately, but times change and so do priorities. Also, economy is quite bad and many people are selling their VB collections (and many other collections) to other private collectors to get extra money to make a living and cover all the debts which they have. That might also be a reason for the silence of the VB scene. Anyway, enjoy what there is, which is quite nice 😉

Nothing, I think they won’t do anything at all 😛

What I was thinking of doing, since I run a print shop, is making the boxes and manuals and then offering the pair up on here for anyone willing to pay the shipping cost.Just wondering, did the plans go through for this, or is it on hiatus?
I would love to have a box/manual to go with my Bound High cart. Here’s the box : http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=15219#forumpost15219
… but there are simply not enough hours in the day for me to finish the manual. 🙁
I left the JPEG’s of the manual I made in the “Bound High carts” thread, just in case you want it 😉
Here’s the instruction manual. A1 & A2 on the same piece of paper, one side each. B1 & B2 the same, and C1 & C2 the same. Then cut & staple, quite simple.
This was done when I had enough time in the day. Now I don’t have any time to spare on these things, so just enjoy what you see… or make a better one yourself and share it 😉

Yeap, they are DogP’s and MineStorm’s PCB’s. As I said, jobs of VB artists 🙂

None of this is news.
Well, this picture is no news either, but now you have more to talk about than an hour ago 😛 It’s just two versions of the same thing, made by two artists of the Virtual Boy 😉

I read once that some people melted the case of a pen to hold the gamebit and then used that. I bought my gamebits some years ago and I have the same problem: they don’t fit the VB with the screwdriver, but they do fit the carts 😛
Hi Cyberdyne, one small request: have you made instructions on how to modify the VFX-1 to hold the Virtual Boy? I’m asking because I guess I’m as lucky as you: I have an old VFX-1 in my attic and I believe I won’t ever build an MS-DOS computer to play Doom with the VFX-1 again. I think your project is the best use I can give to the helmet 🙂

Here in the USA we have a paper size called “Legal” which is about 35.5cm x 21.6cm, so it fits perfectly with blank space around it. 😉
Your box design was the inspiration for mine – if I didn’t have your creative design as a starting point, my design would never have come to be.
I knew about “Legal” paper, but I didn’t know it was 35.5cm! A4 is around 29.5cm (width is more or less the same), so there go the extra cm needed for the box 😛 I’ll try to find some legal paper around to print the box you made. I’m really curious to see how it comes out. Thanks for the heads-up!
Hi Colesonwilson, I agree with my box having the wrong dimensions. It’s OK if you just print it in 3 parts (sides, front, back & up & low) and stick it to an existing GBA game box (check my collection pics), but it doesn’t work if you want to build a professional box printing only one paper and folding everything. Your design is much better for that 🙂
The problem I found with traditional printers is that the full box doesn’t fit on a standard A4 paper. I think it was missing around 3cm (approx. 1-inch), or at least that’s what I remember when I made it, but it was long time ago. Anyway, your design is just great, good work!

DogP´s Bound High! art is the best so far so why don´t go with that ?actually, its also the only one so far 😛
don’t get me wrong from what I said before, that logo change thing was only a suggestion! DogP can just use the label thats already made
Hi everyone, just a quick post so that you have more options to choose from. I’ve just sent to Megaupload my box & instruction manual design along with DogP’s label with the game code as if it were commercial. I prepared all of these way back in 2009. I don’t have server space to upload it into my personal page, nor time to check other ways of uploading it for you, but I’m sure that you’ll do the rest 😉

If you want to see how the final “retail cart” looks, you can check the images in my profile here. You’ll see the final “Bound High” US cart. I’m not saying these are perfect, just that they can be good if you want to make your own “commercial Bound High US cart”. They were designed with loads of love, albeit a bit of rush. Feel free to use them as you wish.
Anyway, I hope this helps you all get your cart ready. I can’t be of much more help now, because I’ve got a “non-virtual boy” as my top priority now 😛
Btw, instruction manual art is thought to print it two-sides. A1 goes with A2, B1 with B2 and C1 goes with C2. After printing and cutting, you carefully put a staple or two in the middle and there you have an “official” instruction manual.
I’ve had mine since the summer ’96 clearance, along with some of the most common games which were $10-$15 each.
Here in Spain happens the same. The usual tax they charge you is 19.5% (18% VAT + 1.5% import) over the declared value. If you don’t want to pay those taxes, you have to tell the person who’s sending you the product to declare it as a gift (green label in the US), so that they think in the customs that it’s not a commercial transaction and therefore cannot charge you anything, since there’s no declared value. This is OK for cheap games and things you don’t mind getting lost in the post (most of the times they don’t get lost, but sometimes they do), but not for valuable products.
When I bought SD Gundam and Virtual Bowling some years ago I had to pay taxes. I told the sender to insure the games for an amount worth $200, even though I had paid much more, because I didn’t want the games to get lost in the post (something insured has way less chances of getting lost) but I didn’t want to pay 200 euro of taxes either. When the games got to Spain, I had to pay 35 euro of taxes (at that time VAT was at 16%, not 18%) to collect them. And those 35 euro were the percentage of the $200 of declared value.
Also some years ago, if the amount you had to pay was less than 10 euro of taxes, they usually didn’t care and send it to you without you having to pay, but since European governments are in desperate need of money, they are probably getting all the people to pay these import taxes, even if they fall below the 10-euro. I hope this helps in future deals.

Sorry, we ate cheese balls and we won! 😀
I think they’re not forever, they expire after several months/years, but I’m not sure. I guess you should ask Nintendo.

Nice work! Can we see more pictures?
I don’t have more pictures, sorry, but the only new shots I could take are of the side of the box or the inside of the 8-page instruction booklet (6 pages + the front & back covers).
Nonetheless, as you can imagine it’s not an official design. It’s just me tampering with Photoshop & all the available images through the Internet, and putting in a lot of imagination as to how Nintendo could have designed the box, instruction booklet & cart label.
I remember seeing somebody post another box design a lot of months ago, and that one had more “personal artwork” (I’m pathetic at drawing), although it wasn’t a finished box, just a Photoshop design. This box is done on top of a “Cruis’n” GBA box 😛
Well, now that the Bound High ROM has been released, I guess I can show you some pictures of how Bound High could have looked like if it had been ever commercially available in the U.S. I hope you enjoy them 🙂
