Bit of an old pic, but gives an idea of the layout:
Edit: Whoops, came out sideways. Oh well, I don’t know how to fix it so enjoy the view by tilting your head 90 degrees to the left :p

Some very cool ideas here! The OP’s balsa box would look extra cool if it had wood slots for each individual game. Maybe out of cut tongue depressors (popsicle sticks) or some other super-thin simple wood.
I store my carts right in their boxes, nothing too creative :p
Nope, no news of any kind, doesn’t look like there’s anything to look forward to here.

Japanese to English Translations for Page 15 of the Virtual Boy Memorial Commemorative Guidebook, Revised Second Edition (Note: I cannot conclusively figure out the meaning of the rest of the sentence portion following the remark about Dragon Quest, so I’ve decided not to translate any of that portion of the sentence):What’s the matter with Nintendo recently anyway? Even the newly released Mustached Man 64 all of a sudden has a large amount of extra copies, and it’s also likely that Dragon Quest will be leaving.
My Japanese co-worker says that this sentence is actually worded in an unusual way. The best he can make of it is:
“It seems that Dragon Quest will be leaving, and it feels like seeing someone very handsome walking away, but it also seems very good.”
Puttin’ ‘er back up to the top, hoping to find these babies in 2017 🙂

Just wanted to properly introduce myself. About a month ago I purchased my first piece of virtual boy anything. It was a kiosk! I’d never seen one or even thought of owning one but I had to have it. It was the most recent one listed on EBay. When I bought it the light didn’t work and neither did the console. Half of the right advertisement holder was missing and it didn’t have any ads. It’s now been completely restored from top to bottom 😍 The only thing I’m missing missing is the left ad and the original key. Is there anyone out there that has the original lock and key and is willing to make me a copy? I’d greatly appreciate it andcover costs of course. Looking forward to hearing from everyone 🙂
Looks great! And after we get that little photoshop job done for the other side of the kiosk, you’ll have the image to put into the other side too!
Hey Neil, I’m pretty Photoshop savvy and this sounds like an easy job. Please either post the full-res scans here or PM them to me and I’ll see what I can do. Thanks – Jordan

I’m genuinely surprised that was a natural bid – Yamatoku are notorious for shill bidding, but that would explain why there aren’t tens of bid retractions on your account, like there usually is 🙂But it does make me wonder, why not just snipe the item in the end, if you wanted to snag it? If no-one else had bid over $500 you could have gotten it for less, assuming Yamatoku didn’t shill bid.
They would have, by the time I made that $500 bid there were already ELEVEN bidders on the item, and the price was at something like $8.50 USD. Basically all 50 cent bidders, but as long as the price stays low you’ll attract a ton of “dreamers” to the auction. To me these are just more eyes on the auction, which in the end equals more bidding competition and a higher final price. My $500 bid probably puts up a “nothing to see here” banner on the auction for many, so the bargain seekers just keep moving when they see that.
Hopefully, that makes for a small pool of bidders near the end to compete with, and you can get the item for relatively cheap in the end ($500 or even $1,000 would still be super cheap for a complete copy of Virtual Bowling).

Virtual Bowling ending soon – HOWEVER it’s worth noting this has been shill-bidded to hell as per all Yamatoku’s high ticket items.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311850869006?ul_noapp=true
Check 2nd highest, that has 100% bid activity with this seller, and what a surprise bidded up from $8 to $500.
There is nothing shady going on with the second part of your post, that was me bidding $500. Pretty obvious that the game is going to go for well over $1000, might as well weed out the bidders hoping for a lucky $20 snag quickly.
The daily search continues *adjust binoculars*

Lol, yeah, I’m sure the VB can produce what looks like at least Xbox quality 3D polygonal graphics. I guess it would be mean to actually fool us with an actual possible mockup, but I don’t see how this is supposed to fool anyone.
That was the first time I ever watched the video, and I wholly agree, I can’t believe those graphics would fool anybody.
That exact stand/sign (that very one) is currently for sale on NintendoAge.com. The seller is asking $750 for it, which is one of the only prices that has ever made me laugh out loud to myself.
Also looks like that copy of Virtual Bowling fetched over $1,800, which is probably about around the price most of us figured it was worth.
Sounds really cool! I wouldn’t have any use for reference docs personally, but I’m sure some here would 🙂

Well yeah, I know now that the Mario’s Tennis one is legit, since I have a copy of it in my collection.Your collection, Mawa, is actually what made me doubt its existence for a while, since I know that was the last one you needed to complete your Japanese demo game collection, and you had been trying to complete yours long before I started trying to complete mine.
Mawa, Benjamin, thank you both very much for your advice and insight. I’ll be seeking these until I eventually find them (even if it takes years), and I certainly appreciate any pointers or advice about searching the Japanese market, I lack experience there and could definitely use all the help I can get. Thanks guys 🙂

I think he’s talking about the Japanese demo with the odd sticker ?-Eric
Ding ding ding, right you are sir. Looking for the Japanese demo versions of Red Alarm and Mario’s Tennis, with the “sample version” stickers on the boxes (the Red Alarm sticker being different from the rest of the bunch). I’d reflect that in the OP but I missed the editing window, doh!
You’ll probably have to be extremely patient and persevering for those two, especially for the Mario’s Tennis one. I searched Yahoo! Auctions Japan for a good year and a half before the ones I now have popped up. Those are very likely much more rare than Virtual Bowling and Virtual Lab combined, but they don’t sell for much at all since most people don’t care about them.
Oh believe me my friend I’m well aware of the needle-in-haystack I’m seeking here…truth be told I don’t ever expect to find copies, but I’ll REALLY never find them if I don’t look!
This WTB thread really serves as more of a notice to other members that I’m actively seeking them, so that hopefully either directly or indirectly that will eventuallly lead to me finding copies. For example if someone like yourself were to stumble across copies of these games in your searches for other things in the future, hopefully you might think “I remember there was a guy on PlanetVB looking for these!” and drop a message like the one here 🙂
On one hand I would really like to find these games, and on the other they are what keep me “actively collecting” for Virtual Boy, so I’m ok with it if it takes a long time to find them, I enjoy the search 🙂

Argh! I am such a moron. I wondered “Well, if the stupid intro screen is giving me a problem, and it’s not needed, then why not remove it from the game and see what happens?” So I removed the part where the ant runs across the screen and the game after the screen setup screen now starts with the backstory (which you can press START to skip by the way.) So I tested it the way I was testing the other one. It works fine as far as I can tell. Why didn’t I think of that earlier?
If it’s any consolation most of us would have never thought of it at all :p So is the game now 100% complete?
