I don’t “fail to realize” anything. I watched the entire process since day one. And I praise MK for his work and the others involved. Why exactly do yourself and others feel as though they have the right to judge someone for selling repros of a homebrew game on ebay? Were you involved in the making of said game? If the creators of the game have a problem, they can come on here and say so, or contact Kevin directly(and how do you know they haven’t already). And shouldn’t it only be between them? Doesn’t that make sense? Maybe my opinion doesn’t matter, and I really don’t feel like saying much else about the issue, but i do feel as though its not really anyones place to get riled up over it. And lastly, me personally, I feel as though Kevin is one of the largest contributors to the entire little scene that we have here and you guys are getting on his case about selling a repro of some homebrew game? First print or not, who cares. More people are getting to play the game and that’s a good thing. Maybe some people don’t want that and they want it to only be all for them and don’t want others to have the chance to play it, but I don’t think that way. The more the merrier. There isn’t much of this vb scene as it is, lets just try to get along.

I’m not trying to stir the pot, I 100% get where you are coming from, but I find it hilarious that we are living in a world where people get upset about a reproduction of a homebrew game.
Same. I have no issues with it.
I didnt see Double Yakuman listed in the unreleased games section. Is it listed elsewhere on the site?
Hey guys, check this out
is there already a scan of this? I didnt see one in the scans section.

Yea, I agree with speedy. Could it happen? of course. Any fan could make that with a rpi and some free time. But will Nintendo mass produce and sell something like that? Doubtful. I personally have no interest in this whole retro mini console craze. All it is is a way for companies to cash in by storing roms on a flash chip in a plastic shell and raking in the dough. I don’t need a vb mini or a virtual boy emulator, just give me the good ol’ fashioned clunky hardware and carts! That being said, if they did release one with dragonhopper included, I would buy it in a heartbeat, heh.
Yea, same. Extremely interested in this.
the SAME guy just posted another hyper fighting up on ebay
i wonder if hes making them himself or something
Whaaaat. I should have known you’d go above and beyond with these. Extremely cool stuff. Where does the cable plug in? Also, have any devs contacted you about the larger carts? Just wondering if there are any projects in the works involving these carts with the larger workspace 😀
Yea Nester’s Funky Bowling seems more and more expensive. I see them from 33-53 on Ebay. Galactic Pinball looks to still be easily obtainable at cheap prices. Vertical Force(usa) on the other hand, I couldn’t even find any for sale.

Hey idsblake and levine91, any of you guys ever try out the link cable?NO! But I really want to.
I just got a hold of a second VB but ended up sending it to a friend that is helping me try and find games for my Mega Man collection. Should have kept it a little while longer!

Incredible work on this, MK. I have been blown away by how well the majority of games work.I spent several hours testing GB games last night, and have a big pack of converted games that generally work.
I streamed about your emulator on my YouTube channel as I prepared the conversions:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJf_QsrhjMsI would love to see work continue on this, and I’m sure we could even put together crowdfunding to support you if it would help.
Yea, I would love to see this emulator developed further and would gladly chip in to help that happen. Some optimizations for better speed, maybe a frameskip option, some fullscreen options, etc. It’s adding an entire library of games to the virtual boy, which is awesome.
Hey idsblake and levine91, any of you guys ever try out the link cable?
Has anyone tried kirbys dreamland 1 or 2? Also, now that a link cable exists, it would be awesome if you could play tetris 2plyr via the link cable on the virtual boy.

.. I understand waterworld and jack bros of course and space invaders etc … but 3d tetris? really? give me a breakWhat is it you understand about the high price of games like Waterworld that you don’t understand about 3D Tetris? If one game’s price doesn’t make sense to you, it stands to reason that other games with high prices wouldn’t either.
As for finding copies for $12….well I’ve watched the VB since it was released and have collected for it for years, and I’ve never seen it for anywhere near that price at any time. Seems like an isolated case of extremely good fortune, not the norm.
I could maybe see it being super cheap around the period that stores were desperate to rid their VB stock and VBs were selling at Toys ‘R Us for $25, but not really any time outside of that period. CheapER, maybe, but never a cheap game.
I have also been keeping up with Virtual Boy since 1995 when I bought my first one. And I know the games were that cheap, including Waterworld and Tetris, because thats when I bought all of my games. I distinctly remember buying 3d-tetris for next to nothing, and intentionally not buying Waterworld because it was horrible. They were both in a discounted/clearance bin at KB toys. I don’t believe I ever spent over 15$ on a single game. I have no memory of 3d-Tetris being expensive at any point up until the early 2000s. But maybe it was just my good fortune as you stated. Or maybe there were more limited quantities in Canada. Maybe if you try to be a bit more positive you’ll have good fortune too. 🙂
cool thanks for the tips guys
200$ for the hat! yikes. Schwanck is finally lettin go of the thing! 😛

Thank you for the welcome! I’m jazzed to hang with everyone and talk about this charming little system. I’m fascinated by all of the later on Virtual Boy enthusiast stories since the interest doesn’t stem from rose colored nostalgia (not that it’s a bad thing, I wouldn’t be here without it). I think it speaks to the impressive tech of the console and especially with the fantastic homebrew software being created, that the platform is really something special and is able to endure after its short time on the market.
Good to see ya! And yea, im glad this community exists, its pretty awesome. I look forward to future projects!
