Do you hear music when you load up a game? If so, it is the glitchy screen problem, fixable by various methods.

I found the instructions in a rar I once downloaded! Also included the full case cover from the same rar. I hope it is good enough!

I had the same problem as well and from my research, it has to do with glue residue that actually interferes with the conductivity.

When I gently pushed on the traces with a desoldering wick and some tin on my soldering iron, the problem went away.
That way I pushed the traces on the PCB firmly and solved the harder to fix ones. I may not be correct, but since I used this method, I solved every harder to fix display easily. Takes up some time, but is a good permanent fix.

Nice job indeed, though I don’t understand what you mean with the noth soldered parts and its moving?! That won’t happen, so, you are settled for life with this method.

Yes, I still do, see your PM!

Sounds like a real bad case of glitchy displays. If the sound works, that means the VB does work. There are ways to fix the displays, some more difficult (and permanent) than others (not permanent).

I myself use this method, which is quite doable and doesn’t need chemicals:

Hey everyone,

I’ve found another method for the soldering fix! 😀 , its not my own but I figured it might help some people out if I posted it here.

it’s allot less complicated compared to the method using NaOH to expose the copper tracks and has fewer procedures to go through to get the tracks soldered down 🙂

It is Dutch indeed, he uses Red Dragon and the option to make 3D from two images next to each other, then his LG 3D TV has an option that can make one 3D image from those two screens.
If he had a Windows PC hooked up to his TV, it would have looked right, this is what he said.
Seems not to hard to do, really easy, though you need a TV that can convert two images next to each other to 3D.

Nice find!

That is GREAT, I would really like to get my hands on that 😛

And today my second system arrived: a NIB Japanese one!
I just couldn’t pass up on it.

Now I just need to fix the first system and I’ll be settled for quite some time 🙂

May I ask what you paid for it? If so: What did you pay for it? 😛

Looks cool, is there going to be a ROM that will be usable on the flashboy? Otherwise it would be a bit of a pitty.

Got any favorite games yet? Which ones are a must get for you?

If you haven’t seen them yet I’d really recommend getting Teleroboxer/Vertical Force/VB Wario Land (personal top 3)

Mind if I share my story on your thread as well?

Go for it!

I already have Red Alarm (found a steal of an Ebay deal a couple weeks ago, $14 shipped for a complete copy) and I’m thinking with only 14 games I might try and pick up all of the North American releases. From what I’ve read, I’m really excited to give Wario Land a try at some point.

I’m glad people were interested in reading my story. I’m excited to have one because like I previously mentioned it was a system that I vividly remember wanting even from my childhood.

I live in the Netherlands and read about the VB when I was 11 or something. I thought it was a myth and it could never be true, how could that be?! It was magical for me, but then we never heard anything about it after the story in an official Nintendo magazine.
So when I read about the VB again two years ago, I decided I got to have it and I did. Never been more happy with another retro console, one of the coolest ones available!

See your PM! 🙂

Sweet… looks nice and solid! 🙂 Obviously this is what’s available, but is black plastic doable in the future? How about re-using the original self tapping screws, instead of a screw and nut (and having no hole on the front)?

Regardless, nice job! Email coming your way! 🙂

I don’t think self tapping would be such a good idea, very prone to defects. While this may not be the most beautiful solution, it is the most solid one and I for one choose that anytime over looks in these cases.

From the last picture, it looks like if the metal part is bent and that could cause your leaning problem. Not 100% sure, but it definitely looks like it.
In that case, trying to bend it back or buying a new stand should solve it 😉

I just got mine in! Fits very snugly and is a lot sturdier. Thanks for making this nice kit which will help us use our VB as long as possible 🙂

I still do repair displays by soldering them (thus a permanent fix, I also give you a guarantee) if people are interested.

How much do you charge? Other than return shipping.

€30,-, short answer 😉

My VB is going downhill fast… first lines on one eye. Then lines on the other eye. Then the right eye having stronger light at times. Then the right eye going “mirror mode” with itself… freaky stuff. I can’t fix it myself… guess I’ll have to find another one 🙁

I just bought a screw driver to fix one and the screw driver won’y fit down the last 4 holes to open the system up. There’s a way to make you’re own with a pen but the pen better be REALLY strong to act like a screw driver.

Easier : )

Looks great, you have at least one PM! 😉

Cool- did it have the orange sticker? I’ll be pissed if I have to send back in order to get a refund…

Better check with him again!

I thought the prototype VB had Super Famicom buttons and a different logo?

That is correct, and nowhere in the add on eBay does it say that it is a prototype. I think the confusion is because of the word, promo, which only means: promotional.
