i tried to order that screwdriver at one point but they wanted more than $20 just to ship it to me.

which is the correct size gamebit for the vb? i think i would like to grab one and grind it down to take out the displays. i would like to take you up on that offer to just fix the displays.

cheers!

You can buy one here:

4.5mm is the right size. The costs are purely shipping costs, I do charge a fee for repairing the displays which is €30,-

that is easier said then done. i’ve called all over to find a video game repair shop who was willing to do the fix, i’ve yet to find one. finally found a guy out in vegas but he wasn’t to sure how to do it, said he would “look it up” and then when asked some specific questions about the VB he didn’t have the answers, so i didn’t mail my vb to him.

i’m in the US and as i recall theforce81 is in the Netherlands? USPS wanted something like $45 to ship one way.

i wish i had someone on my block, or even in my city, who could do the fix and who knew how to do it. i did start a dialogue with a planetVB member on IRC about it, but didn’t have the funds at the time to follow through. though, if he is reading this i’ve been thinking about it the past few months! =)

if you do know someone who can do it, and do it correctly, get it done. its the only way to permanently fix the problem.

If you have a way to open up your VB you can send in the displays by themselves. I have done a few that way from your part of the world before. That way the costs are pretty low, about $6 back and forth. It is your call entirely of course, just trying to help out 😉

When you have opened it, it is really easy to take the displays out by the way, the challange is to get a good gamebit that reaches down the deep holes to unscrew them.

Your displays still working great? No thanks, was nice to have done this for the community!

Really? and here I thought most people here wanted to help this small VB community not get something rare and release it month later

Ok if you tell us you have something rare like faceball, post proof and then say you will release it once people donate the same ammount it cost you to get the game/demo but just keeping it for no reason is just stupid

I mean sure the VB community is small but how do expect new people to come when either games people make are only made as demos then never worked on again or when you get something rare you keep it for years insteadof just saying you have it and asking for money or something

Is this a reaction to my last post? If so, I would read it carefully again, because this doesn’t make much sense if it is meant to be a reaction to my post.

Better make one yourself for that money. Can’t possibly take more time than you need to make $550,- in your job.

saludos.

You are most welcome! I enjoy it myself as well, I love the VB and the way the activity has risen on PVB, I get to enjoy it a lot more than before.

I hope everyone still enjoys it, in a library that is this small, one such ROM can be a big addition to the library.

Sent you a pm, to prevent the forum to clog up with info not meant for everyone.

Put me on the list as well please, just got my Bound High card in!

I don’t think the buggy version was not put up for download to make money out of it. Krisse was in possession of the buggy ROM and didn’t want to give people crappy ROMs, when it was fixed he immediately released the good ROM which was huge!

Though, in retrospect, it would have been better to have released the buggy ROM with a BIG disclaimer which would have avoided people like Jojobean to sell the ROM and lie about it. But in no way do I blame Krisse for this of course! I shouldn’t have done the deal myself in the first place, I myself am responsible for that (just to be clear I do not blame anyone else but myself in the first place and Jojobean in the second place).

Very nice to see that a lot of people are happy with this one and contributing on top of the upload!
I should have uploaded it a long time ago, really sorry that I didn’t. Warm feelings to my heart it does, to quote a certain green man 😛

If TheForce81 is OK with me doing it, I’m willing to make it into a cart.

Same deal as Bound High – 3 donors.

I am completely fine with it, though it would be nice (and in NO WAY a demand, completely optional) if you could help me out on a Bound high one, I can only supply you with one donor card though. I applied for the one before, but at that time I was graduating in college and forgot to send it and contact you about it. Would be nice, but anyways, go ahead and use this ROM for whatever project you want.

One day you will explain about this quote , I’m shocked to know that people tries to ripp off on this site!!

No problem explaining it, I paid him a hundred bucks for the bugged Bound High game and the Space Pinball ROM, I did it purely for Bound High, though a month later we all know what happened lol, the good version came out. He just threw in Space Pinball because I didn’t want to pay 100 bucks for the Bound High alone, while it was in pretty many people’s possession, though with a good reason not available for download. I didn’t care too much for SP, though it did convince me to spend 100 bucks for the both of them.

He said I couldn’t tell anyone about it, but as I see how he scammed me, that promise of mine (that I wouldn’t tell anyone about it) didn’t need to be upheld. I wanted people to be warned about it and not get scammed by him as I was, hence the release to the fine people of this site.

Strange that it doesn’t work, it works for me though….

EDIT:
Downloaded my own upload and have seen that that doesn’t work indeed, here is a RAR’ed version

2nd EDIT:
Tested my own download this time, was at work the previous upload and couldn’t test it. Now it works!

I completely agree with Hedge on this, not really feel like posting it on other sites, but here it seems to mean more. Here is mine:

2062-9281-3330

Well, if you heat it up too much/many times the plastic can curl up and be misaligned because of that. Then soldering will become next to impossible unless you want to replace every thread by single threads and that is something only one person has done and everyone called him crazy/incredible ;).

God that is embarrassing lol

Thanks so much

No need to be embarrassed, glad you made a screenie, that way you helped us helping you 😛
Have fun using your Flashboy!

Did you run it as administrator?

I also had some problems with certain versions of the program, this one works best for me!

EDIT:
LOL! You need to tick the box in front of the game you want to flash and not just select it to be able to flash, that is your problem 😉

Glad you fixed it for now, but do it too many times and you might permanently screw up the displays. You can always buy a cheap non working one from Ebay or something and use those displays, but that is not the way I would like to repair mine lol.

It is an easy choice for me, since I am able to do the solder permanent fix myself and have done so for quite a few PVB members.
The biggest thing about the permanent fix is that you never have to worry about the displays ever again and can do whatever you want to do with the IPD settings.

The biggest trick of the solder fix is to have your soldering iron hot enough. Have it too hot can burn the copper, but having it too cold will mess it up a whole other way, it will move the copper threads instead of soldering them on the board, thus give you more problems than you had before. I normally go at about 380-420 centigrade.
