I have put it off long enough and I am finally going to attemp soldering.I will make my first attempt on a VB with absolutely no video from either side. After examining both left and right ribbons, I can see no visual damage or lifting of the adhesive. My question/concerns: Is there always a visable indication that the adhesive has failed? Should I trust in the pictures and solder in the exact locations everyone is recommending?
You almost never have visable indication of it, I am sure (providing you are skilled and get it done right 😛 ) it will solve your problem!
I have already done it with two VB’s and will do the next one later this week. Got another one in! Too bad every single VB I have seen is prone to this problem at some degree. One I had suffered badly from it while the other two only have it with Wario Land in some rare instances. I repaired the bad one and one of the latter cases.
Well, that clears it up. Nice that you changed the badge part of it, makes it a bit more legit. I hope people won’t start with hacking roms and abuse that with highscore submitting, that would be so uncool.
EDIT:
Hmmmmm, it doesn’t seem to work though. Inequity didn’t get the badge for Mario Clash while he is the number 1 if you only consider screenshot submits.

Yes, I agree, though maybe in the past of the existence of this website there was not a good option of submitting screenshots of highscores?
As this website is KRE155’s property, we of course cannot tell you what to do Krisse 🙂 but we can suggest, can’t we?
It would be best to scrap all non screenshot submissions in my opinion, now that there is a very good way (if this ever was the reason of course) to submit screenshots.I have many highscores for many games that are better than ones posted on websites. I can’t prove it, and if I cared to I could have taken a photo or a video.
Shoulda’ coulda’ woulda’, eh?Badges or not, I think all non-proof highscores are undeserving of *any* recognition at all. I’m not saying that all non-proof submissions are lies, but if there’s no proof they’re surely not important enough to the gamer to deserve recognition.
I had some great VB fishing catches before I deleted my save data, Oh well, I say. I’ll do better next time if it means enough to me.Hey, I got 999,999,999 in vertical force once… I didn’t care to take a pic, but it’s true!!111 :-p
Lol! The last part sounds a bit sarcastic, or am I wrong about that? Man, that game is HARD, I haven’t put in too much time that game myself. But I highly doubt that I can beat your posted highscores there.
I am sure that some game highscores are beatable by someone, and I everyone to try and beat me!!! 😎
That sure would motivate me to get out my VB and beat the highscores myself if I can!

I do agree on this one, always thought about this myself. And I have done a great deal of trouble to get those number 1 scores 😉
Maybe it is an idea to split the scores? Make a screenshot top anything and a non screenshot top anything?
Welcome! I hope you will get a Virtual Boy as well soon 😛

Well, that’s still cheaper than the FlashBoy…
Yes, but as far as I know it does not have the same function of the Flashboy. In fact, it is the opposite. It can make a .rom file from games you have so that you can later flash it on a chip/cart like the Flashboy.

Really? I love you Krissie !! ( I hope that my girlfriend does not read it 😀 )
Lol, why, what could possibly happen if she reads it?
I just hope this will be done right. Good games, and in color >:-D, hopefully a good Mario and Zelda game. That would make it very special to me at least!
We will see what the future holds!
IF this 3DS thing will be a hit, I think the Virtual Boy will get more of a special item status than it has now. It will be the father of the 3DS. Exciting times lie ahead.

It is true, though, that there are many people who have those ROMs and dirty business has been done in the past, like that extremely expensive homemade BH cart sold to Robert Molander. So we have no clue who sold this on craigslist and I know that the BH recently on ebay was not jojobean’s.
If this is true, won’t it be better to just put them out in the open to prevent this from happening? If they are free to download, no one will have any good reason to buy them. Just my point of view!

5R or 1R sounds more like the value of the resistor… (5 ohm and 1 ohm)
Yeah, I agree there, but it says that on the diode and I am no expert on diodes lol!
Well, I just got my Japanese version in and that diode reads 5 R while the US version has a 1 R diode in it. And to my surprise (again, I am not that good with more technical stuff) the Japanese version works with my European AC adapter, while the US tap only works with a DC adapter.
P.S.
Can someone PLEASE 😛 tell me if adaptor or adapter is the proper word in English?!

It looks like that small thing on the left is an isolating transformer?
I am not that technical to be honest, I hope someone with the knowhow will chime in 😉
Well, here it is! Happy anniversary PVB!!! I hope it is useful for someone.
