Oven trick will not work after you have soldered them. If they do not work after soldering, there might be a few things that could be the root of the issue.
It could be that soldering it didn’t get a warm enough temperature for the traces to really attach to the board, you could solve that by pushing down on a desoldering wick with your soldering iron.
It could be that both have a cracked trace in the cable.
It could be that the end part of the cable (that goes into the socket of the mainboard of the VB) has issues, check that, pull it out a bit, clean the connectors and see if that does something.
I do think the problem is that you didn’t get a correct soldering job on them since they both show the same issue (highly unlikely that they both have other issues than the standard one). Can you make a picture of it and post it here maybe?
Discord is a very nice option though and people seem to have found it already! No need to be online to see back through communications since it has an active server that saves the history.
To add to this, it also has a very good app for Android and iOS, very nice to use! Also to PM and such.
Jeez, I should have figured that out myself, I blame the jetlag when I tried it lol. The link you provided here has all the instructions, and I already went there but it seems I didn’t read it correctly haha.

Two copies, so that you can use the two player function maybe?
Yes indeed in my case, as I’m lucky enough to have two JP Virtual Boys (one mosaic) that do get played and enjoyed especially when friends come over. Add that the VB was never released over here of course, let alone SF2.
SF2 is also my favourite game on the planet – I pretty much own every main version of it – including the arcade board, the JP Hyper SF2 Collectors Edition, a special MegaDrive custom ROM cart, and some other stuff like the original styleguide for SF2 licensing way back which is an amazing piece of literature and a great resource piece.
So just to clarify – none of this eBay nonsense, I’ve been here long enough to hope I’m reasonably well trusted. I also want to make a custom box that is like a Collector’s Edition of sorts, if I can. I think that would be cool to see.
Great buddy! I have three working systems here. Still need to test out the cable soon though.
Too bad we have this many haters on the internetz…. People are way too sad mooded it seems.
That one is very expensive though! If you want a way better deal, contact me for repairs. I of course don’t mind if you don’t, but this is really too expensive.

I found a guy in the US that i tracked down from a forum post he made about a decade ago. Anyways he repaired mine and only charged shipping and whatever i felt was an adequate tip. My ribbon cables were more damaged than i imagined. He sent me pics showing what was wrong and what he did throughout the process and if i remember correctly it took a little over a week. I will not post his info but if someone needs it feel free to PM me and i will ask him if i can forward it. I would actually be surprised if he wasn’t in this forum …
Cool! I hope he will make himself known here as it is easier for all USA people to have a USA contact. I have done it for lots of USA people lately, but it takes a lot time in shipping and shipping is more expensive.
Only way to fix this, is to cut of a really small piece of that end of the cable, but be careful, if you cut off too much, you can run out of cable that is exposed to connect to the socket.
The Virtual Boy never ceases to amaze! What a strange but cool piece of hardware. Really one of my most beloved and annoying piece of hardware there is.
