don’t toy with my emotions like that.
EDIT: MYTH BUSTED! Thats clearly the 3DS Camera application running on the bottom screen

I’m no good at Street Fighter either haha, I’m starting in Easy Mode trying to work my way up.
I’ve had the depth slider all the way up. Hasn’t given me any problems yet. The only time I cranked it down a bit was playing the AR Games. I should also mention that I tried Pilotwings on a display unit at the store, and I couldn’t handle the 3D if the slider was more than halfway up. Its REALLY nice being able to adjust the depth so freely.
What games did you pick up, VBSAM? I have Street Fighter and Bust-A-Move.
Also, cool the 3DS at least works with WPA wireless security instead of just WEP like DS. 🙂
I picked up Street Fighter and Steel Diver.
Yeah, the WPA support is great! Also, the new friend code system is a major improvement.
HAH! That’s awesome! Can’t wait to get mine tonight!
BTW, how is that Aqua Blue looking in your hands?
At last year’s E3 Expo, Nintendo showed off a massive array of software demos for 3DS. While most of them will be available soon, one of the most interesting ones seems to have been shelved entirely.
The demo showed a Mario-style jumping game with transparent platforms. In the system’s 2-D mode, it was virtually impossible to tell where the overlapping platforms were in relationship to each other. With 3-D on, the depth effect lets you see where to jump.
“We want to get software out to as many people as possible, and there are some people who just can’t see 3-D,” said Konno when asked about this demo. “We’re moving away from any stance that says if you don’t use the 3-D functionality you can’t play this game.”
Yeah, thats super f**kin’ lame. Not quite a nail in the coffin though.
VIRTUAL BOY! 3DS! WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED, I AM…
CAPTAIN GUNPEIYOKOIFAN! 😮
You forgot the most important ingredient… CHEMICAL X.
Please excuse me while I embark on a 3-day long Powerpuff Girls binge.

I will not be getting one. It’s kind of a pain keeping your head locked in one spot in order to see the 3D effect.
Its actually not difficult at all. On any other DS or Game Boy, you’re usually pointing the screen at your face anyways, are you not?
A+ work! I also see the VBoot cart at home on your desk. 🙂

pretty much anyone who hasn’t played the VB, is already sensitive to anything thats 3D, didn’t set the focus and IPD dial correctly (or at all) or just wants to be on the hate bandwagon are the ones who say the VB is horrible the most
Haters gon’ hate. The amount of negativity towards anything 3D has always baffled me. We’ve got 2 eyes for a reason, to perceive depth, so… I fail to comprehend why anyone is less than enthusiastic about 3D, especially in a video game.

And my apologies to any toes I’ve stepped on in this thread.
You aren’t stepping on any toes. I value your opinion, though I disagree. Your views are well-informed and appreciated.
Its Reggie’s job to be a PR guy. He has nothing to do with game development or design, he’s just there to sell the product to the American audience. Reggie is their American puppet, and hes done a damn good job at what he does best, and thats pushing product.

I am a Nintendo fan.
My apologies. How do you feel about the New Super Mario Bros. or DK Country Returns games?
I’m a Nintendo fan. I don’t believe I’m quite ‘fanboy’ status. I chose my purchases based on quality and not simply because of the publisher. Nintendo consistently makes quality hardware tailored specifically to its game ideas. They’re all about quality and craftsmanship, and that is why I am a fan.

Far from it, here. Nintendo has really gone down hill, big time. Snes / VB were the last good efforts IMO. GBA had some great sleeper stuff here and there, but even then it was only a mere reflection of good SNES style games.
I beleive the topic of the post was to sign if you are a Nintendo fan, not if you aren’t.

…then I realized they are headache pills 😐
Sadly, there are people whose puny brains and eyes can’t handle stereoscopic images/video games. I pity them. It is they who gave the VB its bad publicity, and they’re already trying to bring down the 3DS. Death to them!
I’m going to pick up Steel Diver and nintendogs+cats (for the Mrs. of course ;-)).
The games that are available on day 1 aren’t amazing and I think it lacks that ‘killer app.’ Though, the software thats included in the system seems to be enough to warrant a purchase without buying any games.
I just tested out one of the demo 3DS units at Best Buy. WOW! That screen is so amazing/gorgeous/jaw-dropping, it almost brought a tear to my eye… a tear of joy of course. It was an Aqua Blue unit and I have to say that it looks much better in person than photographed, though my money is still with Cosmo Black.
I have to agree, the 3-color scheme is very ‘different’ to say the least… I really like the Aqua Blue lid, but when the system is open the color looks cheap. The 3-color scheme works really well on the Cosmo Black 3DS. Thanks for your input.
Heres a review that won’t make you cringe.
Any reviewer who faults the 3DS for supposed headache or stomach aches should also realize how much of a GREAT design choice it was to put that analog ‘3D Slider’ on it. Nintendo knew some people would complain, they’ve been here before. That 3D Slider is their way to completely dissolve/defuse any anti-3D hate speech that is hurled their way (What are you complaining about if you can turn it off?). The only thing on the 3DS that screams FAIL is the battery life, but I plan on picking up one of these Nyko Power Paks when I get my unit on launch day. I’ve heard gripes about the camera quality as well, but the 3DS cameras are meant for augmented reality, or other in-game sorts of things. Its not supposed to double as your digital camera.
Also, anyone who complains about the price needs to realize that the majority of competiton now is in the smartphone category, where you have a monthly payment for a data plan. A one-tme payment of $250 is better than a one-time payment of $250 + an extra $50 a month data plan.

…mostly because I’m afraid of screwing up.
You’ll never learn anything unless you screw up. When I was 13 I screwed up plenty of electronics… my Dreamcast (trying to portable-ize it), my Gameboy Color (trying to backlight the screen), I’ve even ruined a VB display before. Screw-ups are valuable learning experiences and I hope your fear doesn’t keep you from having fun and learning a thing or two along the way.
Here’s a good video to watch that may help you get over your fear. It’ll probably inspire our female audience as well (gunpeiyokoifan) since the one giving the lesson in the vid is also a female.
Have the times changed that much?? I was modding my consoles, ditching school, trying pot, smoking cigarettes and stealing my dad’s beer with friends, and even got arrested for dumb petty childish vandalism when I was 13.
Kids these days eat Lazy Cakes and drink Four Loko to get their kicks.
