One of, if not the main reason there isn’t really a Homebrew scene for N64 is because the system is really hard to program for. Hackers are getting better at it, but it’ll be a few years before you’re seeing them in spades.
I would imagine the vest/hat were probably only worn by employees at Toys ‘R’ Us since they always had a big emphasis on being the biggest video game dealer in the country (noted in their advertising). Plus Nintendo always went the extra mile for TRU since they knew that’s where a good chunk of kids were shopping for toys/games etc.
Also, after thought, what about the possibility of Blockbuster Video? Nintendo was working with Blockbuster in advertising/promoting the system.
All I know is the original GB games are going up in price again almost double on some. Which always makes me laugh at what people are paying and thinking they’re “rare” or “hard to find” which of course they’re not.
Typical, someone bashing the VB without experiencing it first hand. I think the new VR is more damaging to your health than the VB supposedly does. I tried it for about 30 seconds and my eyes hurt immediately, the VB takes 30 minutes before that happens and its mild.
It all comes down to “don’t judge a book by its cover”. Some of the “bad” games people swear by aren’t that bad or above average, some even legitimately good. I like AVGN, sure its crude humor but it makes me laugh because I know i’ve gotten angry and called a game “a flying f**k heap” or “piece of dog s**t” thrown a controller down on the ground. He takes a bit farther than most would but its comedy show. Take it with a grain of salt. His non-AVGN stuff is pretty cool too.
