Oh snap!
Those look great! Amazing work!
You’re the best dude!
Thanks again for doing this! 😀
This wraps up the six I needed.
Now to update the manual. 🙂
Here ya go~
You should be able to just overlay this on your template you had. 🙂

Yea, while you should 100% go to Akihabara and check it out, places there like Super Potato wont be offering you up any crazy deals that you couldn’t just get off eBay. ( For the most part )
I would suggest checking out both Book-Off and Hard-Off. They have some pretty massive video game sections with some pretty good deals here and there. 🙂
Check out their “Junk” section!
Have fun in Japan!
Yea, Japanese games did not come in a plastic seal. Hard-Off is notorious for encasing everything in cellophane. Gotta keep it fresh~ 🙂

Does this game have a save feature? Noticed when I started it, it stated “New Game”. But not a load game, enter code etc.
There is no save feature in the game, but there is a password system.
I can be kind of hard to tell from the emulator, but at the title screen to the right of the monster-bubble is the word: “Password”.
I’m more than willing to pre-order! 🙂
Honestly, I don’t want you to get bogged down with fulfilling needless tier perks, but if you go with Kickstarter I’ll be there to.
Sounds amazing!
E-mail sent. 🙂
If you need any sprite work or anything, I might be able to help~!

VirtuousRage was asking me for a while to do a Translation Patch for Insmouse No Yakata (インスマウスの館). A week ago I decided to give it a go.
You’re the best Thunderstruck!!!
It was really fun making all the sprite edits for the patch. 🙂
Thanks again for helping me complete this project that began 2 years ago! One step closer to the finish line~!

Very easily! Just have a look at the flap on the very bottom of the box. It’s folded in the same manner as the North American releases. Just compare this very copy with any other copy online and you’ll see what I mean.
Holy shit. I didn’t even realize till you made me go look that the Japanese boxes fold the same on top and bottom. O_O
Years of collecting VB games and never knew this…
Feel a bit like an idiot. 😀

Also, noticed the shade of blue on some boxes are lighter.. Is this anything? I got these 3 games with the virtual boy console, and the blue shade on Red Alarm is different than the others. Notice this on some auctions as well.
Yea, Nintendo wasn’t too consistent with the Virtual Boy boxes. Some are darker, and some have a different green line pattern.
I think Baseball is probably with worst when it comes to the darker blue? Unless you count the Mario Tennis display box.
Like Levine said, you can just look at the inside of the box and see if it’s more of a brown cardboard color. Those are originals.
Most repros I have or know of are made with a white card-stock.
Personally, the only NA reproduction I’ve seen floating around is the Mario Tennis box. But, that one is pretty noticeable by the fact that it’s missing the yellow “For Display Only” box at the bottom right.
(There are plenty of NA style Japanese exclusive games out there. These are repros and are generally made for $70-$100… so don’t go buying a $1,000 version of these!)
Hope that helped.
Happy collecting! 🙂
There are three that still remain un-printed.
– V-Tetris
– Insmouth no Yakata
– Space Invaders
The boxes, manuals, and labels for all 3 of these are completed.
Insmouth and Space Invaders have a few bits of Japanese text on menus and such that need to get patched out.
( I’m too noob at it… or I’d do it myself. 🙁 )
You can see all my suggested fixes in this old thread:
https://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6642&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0
V-Tetris has nothing that needs patching, so that one has just been sitting around waiting to go. No idea why Tusk hasn’t printed that one yet. Probably too busy and it’s just not as interesting of a title for him. xP
I haven’t spoke with him in months, but I can reach out again and see how he’s doing. 🙂
There are repros of Jack Bros. going around? O_O
I wont be able to tune in this weekend because of PRGE, but hopefully you get the VODs working!
I’d love to watch it after. 🙂

Saturday is the only day I can make it as well. Basically any time from 10-4pm I should be free just wandering the floor. Should we make a group chat message on Discord or something that way when we’re all there we can get in touch quickly?
I’ll be there all weekend because I’m a nerd. :U
The only panel I really want to see is the 8-Bit guys a 8PM.
Other then that, I’ll just walking around the place looking for buys and watching Tetris. xD
I think a big group chat on discord would be nice to quickly gather?
Is everyone on there?

Since I am now living on the West Coast, I am making it my mission to attend the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I was able to find a dog sitter for my dog and I will be attending Saturday the 20th. I’m making this post in case anyone else is going and would like to meet up. I will have the Virtual Girl with me and a couple games.
Heck yea I’ll be there!! 😀
I’d love to join in on a PVB meet up!
Should we try to schedule an meet up time?
(If there are enough people willing… hehe)
What’s your schedule looking like for Saturday?
I’d totally watch when I could! 😀
Normally I tune in to twitch a bit after work while I eat. So for me, it would be around 7pm – 9pm PST.
Not sure what time that is in Germany.
@speedyink : You don’t need an account to watch on twitch. Just the link. 🙂
