Looks like it’s a lot more comfortable to play lying down than actual VB hardware.
Nice job! 👍
These old RetroDuo controllers look pretty nice next to a Virtual Boy (they almost look official), but too bad they’re literally the cheapest feeling controllers I’ve ever held in my hands. They feel like dollar store controllers, or something you would get in a McDonald’s Happy Meal 😬

I recently added this sweet $10 off Virtual Boy Coupon to my collection.
Whenever I acquire an item, I like to compare it to another, but being that I don’t own a second VB coupon, I compared it to the one seen here…
https://www.planetvb.com/modules/advertising/?m32
…and noticed that my coupon is Black compared to the Red one seen in the link above. So I guess these coupons came in Red and Black, which is something I was totally unaware of up until I made the comparison.
Pretty cool though!
Big thanks to PVB member ryucheese for giving me the opportunity to purchase the coupon! 😎👍

So much for that spring release of these Arcade Classics 😕…
But they did release the static screen Tetris, which looks to be pretty darn good for what it is. The music on it is really good too.
Check out this vid and see for yourself…
… I’m definitely impressed!

Yes, both of them have the entry form attached. But after looking I see that I must have cut out the Virtual Boy logo on the first one for some reason. The second one is fully in tact. I also found a Virtual Boy coupon and another brochure while searching for the 3D Sweepstakes one. I took a picture of what I found.
Cool!
Care to sell the coupon?
PM me if so.
No.
It says “fan art” right in the description.
Was still cool to see though.

All the caps in the other member’s collection are not this specific one ? What are exactly the differences ?
The cap that’s shown in the brochure has a white-rectangular boarder around the VB logo, and has a purple streak between the lettering. The caps seen in some member’s collections only have the VB logo with red letters.

Nice score! That’s a mighty rare brochure. In my 10 years of collecting VB items, yours is only the 2nd one that I’ve ever seen available for purchase. It’s too bad that it’s missing the Sweepstakes Entry Form…but at the same time it’s cool because it shows that at least someone cared enough to try to enter the Sweepstakes 😀
Here’s a scan of the Entry Form for those that have never seen one…

Wow, some really great collections here! I love seeing how other people display their stuff!
Quaze…speechless! 😮
I have some interior renovations going on in my place at the moment, so I’ve taken my entire VB collection away from it all so I’m not to get any drywall dust all over it. I took the opportunity to put together a picture of SOME of my VB collection (yes, there’s more! 😉) minus my games. I have a really neat idea on a way for displaying everything, but it’s gonna take some time to do. But when I’m all set, I’ll definitely post a “grand reveal” picture.

It was especially cool of them to mention those two games specifically.
Yeah, that is pretty cool! And a nice little piece to keep in the collection.
I’m curious to know though…what did they end up giving you for swag items?

I played a few of these games the other day while standing in line at a mall’s anchor store. I wasn’t impressed. Graphic and gameplay felt like cheap ports.
The ones available at Wal-Mart are way better than the ones found anywhere else.

But this Oregon Trail handheld, that has piqued my interest.
Yeah, everyone seems to really like that one. I’ve watched a few videos on it, and everybody has nothing but good things to say about it.
It even made it on an episode of the Ben Heck show, he managed to make it even more portable than it already is…

They had better still release a proper version of Defender. I’m still worried about that.
To be honest…so am I. 😒
There’s even a Tetris one!

You lucky son of a gun! 😀
Yeah, definitely let me know. If I’m correct, the wire for the 3-D sign should come out from the bottom of the sign.
Keep me posted!
Hm…looks like Ms. Pac Man could be part of the new spring release of Arcade Classics.
Hopefully WAl-Mart gets one with the full-color LCD screen.

One thing that I’ve always found quite fascinating about the Japanese VB floor model displays, is the fact that they have two power cords (see above picture), one for the 3-D sign, and then the normal JPN AC Adapter for the Virtual Boy. This gives you the option to keep the sign’s light on or off as you play the Virtual Boy.
The North American displays did not have the option to keep the light off as you played the VB. Instead, they have a built-in power outlet behind the rail that the AC Adapter plugs into. There’s one wire that comes out of this built-in outlet, and once you plug that wire into an outlet, the 3-D sign will light up, and the Virtual Boy is ready to be powered on by the controller.
Pretty cool though, don’t you think!? 🙂

Last year when my father had to under go two gallbladder surgeries I was at my wits end.(Not even remotely the same as a blockage, but scary)(Also the worst case that any doctor had ever seen) I hated the feeling not knowing what was going on and being helpless, but everything worked out and all the prayers from my church and online families helped get he and I through it.
I sure hope you and your father are still doing good. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of hope and faith for the most amazing things to happen 🙂

For the future, if ever you do need a surgical procedure (which I pray you never do) then ask to be sedated with the Game Boy 😀
Just in case nobody caught that reference… There exist an accessory for the Game Boy called the “PediSedate” that sedated children as they played a game. It was featured on an episode of AVGN, and at the end of the episode he kept yelling how he wanted to be sedated with the Game Boy.

They even altered his forehead wrinkles, they’re less crinkled in the final version XD
Here’s a comparison of the VB pre-production Counter Card vs. the actual Counter Card that was made available for retail stores.
Just thought to toss it in here.
(might be a little blurry, sorry for that 😝)

This is definitely some good news, Morintari!
I’m so glad that you didn’t have to suffer the healing process of a surgical procedure.

Good ol’ Dr. Mario would never let you down. He’s never let me down, and I’ve dealt with him quite a few times… so I was totally confident sending him in to you!
For the future, if ever you do need a surgical procedure (which I pray you never do) then ask to be sedated with the Game Boy 😀
It’s good to know you’re back home, buddy!!
