This one hasn’t had anything new for a while, so I went ahead and tried the first version on my FlashBoy Plus. Unfortunately all I got was a black screen. It’s fun through emulators thought!
Whoops, my mistake, forgot to pad the file.
It runs now!
Graphically it is a bit buggy, however the main issue is that you cannot see the ball.
Any updates usch?
I just ran this through my FlashBoy Plus, and I like it!
The effect of the smilie frowning when falling made me LOL!
The only minimal bug I’ve noticed is when scrolling up, the graphics seem to “disperse” across the screen in terms of blockiness. Not sure if that made sense, but it’s very minimal all the same!
Good job!
I just tried this in my FlashBoy Plus, and graphically it looks amazing! Good work!
However, it does have the “jumping issue” where each jump seems to be at a random height.
This one seems to have great potential!
I just tried this on my FlashBoy Plus, and I like it! It runs perfectly as well!
The only comment I have in terms of an addition is perhaps make the sub a bit faster?
Other than that, good job!
Firstly, I think this is a great idea! I’ve always been a fan of Mandelbrot’s myself, so I like it!
So I just tried this on a FlashBoy Plus, and it is rather buggy. There are vertical lines, and the graphics “shake” left and right. But regardless, I really like the concept!
I just tried this on my FlashBoy Plus. I must say, I really like the concept behind it!
The only thing is…and mind my lack of knowledge in the terms…the graphics of your ship as well as oncoming ships appear buggy, as in they stay in the same vertical lines, but “block apart” across that section of the screen.
Just tried this on my FlashBoy Plus, and I really, really like it. The 3d effect works rather well!
~Great potential~ 🙂
Wow! What a great idea to make a clone of Gradius!
I must admit my inclination towards this game is due to being rather hardcore into “shmups”
I look forward to any updates you make!
I received the Flashboy Plus in the mail yesterday, and I LOVE IT!
However, I do have a question about the number; is this 75 or 15?

So I just got an email about purchasing one of these!
But I do have a question as I live in the US;
The current exchange rate of 102 euros = 141.5964 US dollars, so how much should I send exactly?
I’m thinking round up to $141.60?
Seems kind of obvious to ask, but I just want to be sure before I transfer the money 🙂
I agree about the screen being horrid.
I did however enjoy playing Monopoly, Centipede, and Resident Evil on it at a point in my life.
I bought one of the big boys for $10 at my local bookmans, and bought a collection of like 15 sealed games on ebay for $30 to play. I do regret opening half of them as they provided no enjoyment at all.
I would still play a few games today, but lines are displayed on my screen whenever turning it on.
It did have a really good d-pad imo, it gave an arcade-y feel.
“the vb save games can all be bought together for under 90 euro”
Are you including SD Gundam Dimension War in your calculations? 😛
Needless to say, I’m still excited for this revised cart!
I’m really glad to have put out for one now, a flash card with internal memory is exactly what I’ve been waiting for!
Although, mind my uninformed self, but not being able to back up the sram means that saves cannot be saved to the computer for later use?
Regardless, I’m hyped!

The 4.5 security key fits the system screws, but it is too large for the game cartridge screws. So when I ordered I bought one of the 4.5 bits and also one of the 3.8 bits for cartridges.
To give you an idea of the size of the 4.5 bit, it sticks out roughly 1 inch from the deep holes of the VB (after a small amount of grinding, as mentioned above).
Good to hear the bit worked for you! I ended up looking to ebay finding this deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-NINTENDO-NES-72-PIN-CONNECTOR-4-5-Bit-System-Tool-/170527357628?pt=Video_Games_Accessories
I had to grind the bit a quarter inch for it to fit, and the metal seems rather strong and hasn’t shown any signs of stripping after taking the screws out and putting them back in.
And now I can fix my front loading NES as well, assuming the 72 pin connector is what the problem is. Regardless, it’s the cheapest price for it on ebay, when factoring in the average price of the bit.
Alright, my soldering iron should be able to handle it.
Now what’s odd is I’ve finally got my VB opened after letting it sit upside down for a few weeks and before I took out the display cable, I figured, ok I’ll try it one was time to make sure I’m fixing the right display. So I plugged her in, and she worked flawlessly! I don’t know what happened, so I’ll just hold off until the glitchy screen comes back, as I can’t remember which one it is.
Very weird.

Well, I’m in the same situation.
However, I found this bit which seems it is long enough to fit:
http://www.classicgamesource.com/proddetail.php?prod=309589004&cat=100&PHPSESSID=45548ee98830ed1d9a399934398dc4c4
So my VB went glitchy in the right eye. This is the third one I’ve had fail, but this time I have no return option from the seller so I have to fix it my self.
I’ve researched the methods out there and this seems to be the the easiest one for me.
I have researched a bit into it and noticed that since the copper is very thin, I’d be afraid of it melting. Currently I have a 30w soldering iron, which heats up to 800 degrees F, or about 420 degrees C, so that leaves me with a question.
What temperature should the soldering iron be?
This is a gem of a system! I’ve wanted it for years, but only saw it for sale once and it was ended at a very high price, of which I don’t recall.
I remember the one time I saw an auction for one of it’s four games for sale on eBay. It went for over $1000 and was “chewed by a dog”. It really makes one elite to own this machine, as they’re super rare!
Emulation is out there for this system, and it runs rather good.
I *almost* consider this the predecessor to the VB, albeit of no 3d ability.
“Had The Beatles released anything in the mid 90’s I would have suggested that instead.”
That caught my eye. They did release the two new songs “Real Love” and “Free as a Bird”, in 1995/1996. So that coincides with the release of the VB lifespan and thus is in a way relevant to VB talk.
Anyways, getting back on topic, I would totally program for this if I had any idea how to, but instead I will just join the *masses and follow these releases.
*masses=my hopes that more people will be attracted to the VB with the release of the 3DS. One can dream. 🙂
