Yeah, I bought that one too, before I found out that it wouldn´t fit the gameboy. But was quite handy using it for GameGear…

I always use the “standard” position. But I´m tempted to try your approach 😉

If you look around a bit I am sure you´ll find a cheaper one. I didn´t pay more than 20 USD incl shipping.

As stated before. Unfortunately I am stuck unless I know what the contact points layout is on the ribbon cable.

I am not sure if that is correct, but I think DogP (he is a member here) made an experiment some time a ago. He might know more:

PC. The virtual boy would just be used to house the display and power source.

What a cool idea 🙂

Usually people go the other way around – bringing VB pictures on a TV in 3D. But having PC games in 3D isn´t a bad idea either.

Especially when you create a mod in which you can switch between TV input and VB internal!

Eric received too many threatening messages as a result of all of the attention around Faceball, so he won’t be selling carts.

That´s too sad. I was hoping to have a full release one day in my hands.

I made my order on the 18th of December. Did it ship with the other yesterday? 🙂

Don´t expect the game to arrive anything earlier than 5 weeks from the day it was posted. Although it´s such a small box it took ages to arrive. I already thought it got lost on the way…and I was really happy when the little box was in my hands 🙂

Sounds like a great idea. Gameboy has already been used for that, VB seems only logic to be the next one. Especially, when you have to sit down and lookt into it while making music with it 😉

Do you only collect VB and R-Zone, or other handhelds too?

Listing has been removed.

Why do these dumb mother truckers continue to try to fleece eBay users?

Guys, I just reported him on the Ebay site. I told that it was a repro and no official Nintendo release. Suggest anyone else also does this – the more the earlier Ebay will remove the item.

What I like with that System is the approach in design and idea. The early 90ies were full of ingenious, crazy and corageous concepts in game design, be it a console or a PC game.

In this regard the R-Zone is truly a child of that era. That´s what I am missing nowadays…although I think that the HUD version of R-Zone is failure in design – since you cannot adjust it if you´re near or far-sighted, which makes it useless to people like me.

But it´s a neat cyberspace gadget kind of game system 🙂

I had one with two games (the one with the headstrap) and sold it 2 years ago…
Actually it wasn´t that much fun, since it is kind of a HUD, which lets you see the game only on one screen (right eye). Gave me a hard time playing, it also was to near to my eye and there was no way in extending the distance.

I never played the handheld version – maybe it is better. But when it is for red displays I prefer the VB 😉

I think this would be very plausible, if I had a Mario Clash cart I would have tested it, but I do not…

Well, give it a shot, since you´re the electronic specialist 😉
It mustn´t be a Mario Clash…what about Golf?

THOUGH: NEVER SOLDER ON THE BATTERY DIRECTLY, NEVERRRRRR!!!!
It will most likely explode with consequences you do not want to think about.
If you solder a battery with clips on it, be careful not to warm up the clips too long, as the same effect might happen, be warned as this is a very serious danger!

Ok, I wasn´t aware of that. Since you can solder your own accupack (rc cars), which have little metal clips already soldered onto them. I thought that these batteries are suited for high temperatures within a short period….then how do they do that?

Thanks for the info, thought it was be the standard setup!

Even if there is a spot for a battery, adding one might not do anything.

Well, why wouldn´t they plan accordingly to save on money and have a unified board for all carts? From a manufacturers standpoint this would totally make sense, at least for the battery. Think of rentability in terms of lesser factory cost and usability in terms of being “upgradeable” for little to no cost in advance. Nothing unusual nowadays, even back then.

I admit that I don´t know about the programming, but who knows if the software co´s didn´t program a savegame feature into some games (that might have been dropped in hardware terms later on), that would only show up with a battery?

Here´s a link for the repair – from the dimensions of a GB cart it is likely that VB carts size is not much off in thickness, but have a look for yourself:

Definitely the way how I would approach a repair attempt!

Don´t forget to check polarity on your adapter – afaik it is always “center tip positive”.

If I was in a possesion of a proto, and there is 200$ more each months, I won’t tell anyone that I have one, and I will wait for years. I think I will stop waiting only when people will stop giving money to the paypal account.

So, a paypal account with a public balance is really bad I think…

Well – as long as there is only ONE prototype, yes.

Generally I think you´re right…it would only play into the hands of venturers, as you can see on ebay for quite some time now. Top venturer is a guy wanting 1500 bucks for a console worth 70 euros.

This might be completely bullshit so don’t take my word for it, but I know a guy who’s specialized in importing hardware and software from Japan (nearly every X68000 in the area that I know of was bought from him), and he told me the quickest way to drain a save battery was to not use it for long periods of time, and that at least once every six months he’d fire up all his equipment to keep the batteries from dying early.

I wouldn´t regard it as bullshit…sounds totally believable to me. Depending on the type of battery and/or quality the drain can be up to 20% in a month.

But I am not so much concerned about simple drain, I am more interested in a fail like leakage. But thanks anyway for that info 🙂
